I find it weird that Bren can be fired from any posture but MG34 only when prone. It should be either both or neither. Want some proof? YouTube - MG3 shootout in Afghanistan MG3 is essentially MG42 rechambered to fire NATO round. MG34 was an older and more complicated MG than MG42, but the same basics apply to both. MG34 isn't any weird marvel of technology that greatly differs from Bren, or the other way around. Both are light machineguns in their assault configuration.

Did search the forum for this kind of suggestion? I think not.

With the smooth recoil, firing standing will make the mg42 an effective weapon to shoot at a hord of elephants charging at you...

If I remember right, this baby has a weight of nearly 12kgs. Even in prone position it is very hard to land a burst of three or 4 rounds within the target.

Only reason I can think of giving MG34/42 ability to shoot from standing is that they could be fired from windows and/or on sandbags etc. But just to make it fair because Bren can do it is no no IMO. Bren has its own downsides like MG34.

Like what downsides? Do you mean the only downside which is the horrible gunsight blocking the visibility? Otherwise it's more accurate than MG34 and can be effectively utilized in the roles of SMG, rifle and MG. Besides that, someone pointed out that 12kg is heavy.. Bren is no lighter than 10kg, yet it fires perfectly accurately when standing. Burst is not really a concern either.. the first two bullets will hit closely there where aimed, like apparent in the video. I'm not asking that the MG34/42 should be an automatic weapon when standing, but rather that there would be a possibility to fire it other than prone, just like with Bren. Otherwise Bren should be similarly restricted as MG.

You might very well think that

Another great example for my theory that most people would seriously suck at modding, even if they knew how to do it.

This is a realism mod. If you give the players the ability to fire a general purpose machine gun while standing, you will ruin both the credibility and the playability of the mod. If you want to be Rambo, take the Bren. It's a fine close combat weapon, while the MG34 is much better at range.
