Now don't worry, because I did search this and I couldn't find anything conclusive on my question... However, awhile back i do remember Mcgibs talking about making new minimaps for each map, as opposed to the regular BF2 ones... hand drawn types or topographical types that looked more realistic and historicly accurate. So I was just wondering, what ever happend to that project? and if it's dead, can we revive it? Just as an example, check out Battlegroup Frontlines' minimaps, they're very unique and immersive. BattleGroup-Frontlines And just a question, is it possible to give the two different teams seperate minimaps? Discuss

We have been discussing this, but as it seems impossible to give either team their own Minimaps it would end up in general maps with no fancy orders or such on them.

We had some pros and some cons. Don't know if someone has the time to do them though.

My main con with them in the desert is that you lose some of the idea where you are while in a plane for example. Translating drawn not 100% correct maps into a position with the Viewdistances as they are and then trying to bomb/dogfight is just very annoying.

(Mind you that's what I gathered playing BFG) and Supercharge in an old Beta.

Didn't want to clutter the place up with a new thread.

My query has to do with the big gridded map you get when you press M. As I can't remember many of the flags names whilst trying to warn fellow soldiers "enemy squad/tank at so and so flag" etc I pop up the grid map to get the name, and I don't know if it's just me, but I find the contrast of red lettering against the usuall green background difficult to read e.g. Kidney Ridge is ok to memorise, but the other ridge on El Alamein I can never remember, hence when the map pops up I can't make out due to the bad contrast what the hell it's called

It's probably too much of a nit pick, but how easy would it be to change the font color so there's a better contrast, say white or yellow?

no topographic maps or drawn fh2 maps.. its a satellite picture of "real" terrain, its much better gamewise and graphic wise.

miteyra ridge or something?

be careful when using the location names in an international squad, I think they are translated, at least in the german version, could cause some confusion.

The round minimap thing still sucks, by the way, no matter how clever someone thinks it looks.

Just thought I'd remind the devs of that.

I have to agree that when in the corner of a map you can't see yourself because it doesn't keep you centered on it, unless you zoom the minimap completely, so I actually think with BF2's engine the best is a square minimap.

I also agree, and while I think the compass is nice, it does block out a significant portion of the minimap, exacerbating the problem.
