I dunno that even the best rigs make much of a difference, there may be some little driver issue with sound, mobo, graphics, CPU , who knows, but I've got a A64 3500+ PCIe 6800GT 256 and 2 gb of Corsair running in dual channel and STILL have some issues with this. some people are saying they never get less than 20fps as if 20 is a good thing? I don't think so.
Never the less, the map is exceptionally large and would not be harmed by being scaled down quite a bit. I'm not saying the devs need to always cater to the lowest common denominator, but coming close to that will get this and other early part of the war maps to run on more servers. As it is, this part of the war is rarely seen on any server. Even I can't run it on mine due to the complaints I get over choppiness. And, dammit, I love the Tankette!
I think the problem is like with Orel, too many objects. There's a million trees, bushes rocks etc, that you never fight in anyway.
OrangeUh, bullshit. I'm running a P4 at 3.5GHz, a 9800 Pro at XT speeds, and a gig of OCZ Gold PC4000 and I get 5-10fps when I turn toward the city. Every other map in FH, and every other game I own for that matter, runs maxed out at 75fps almost all the time. It's the map, not my machine.
Thats funny because my machine which is about 2/3 the power of yours gives me no lag whatsoever in the city.
Athalon XP3000+ 1 gig assorted DDR266 ram Radeon X800 Pro 256meg SB Audigy 2 ZS Nforce2 mobo (Gigabyte GA7n400) 100 gig WD 7200RPM HD
I get occasional jumps when the machine needs to load the textures and sounds but it clears quickly. You need to defrag or something, because that's just not right given your specs.
Eastern Blitz could use some cleaning up to get rid of frivilous objects, and Orel has been griped about for 4 patches already. Everyone agrees just get rid of the oilfields area on the left side but it hasn't been done.
So I guess we're just going to have to deal with it. And yeah, BF2 is going to rape you brutally if you dont have some shaders on your card.
CologneSkymy suggestion: get a decent pc and stop nagging about "lag". Its not lag anyhow - just youre machine cant handle this map. With your attitude we would still be playing in an untextured vector world which you 12Mhz 286 could handle.
buddy, this map lags in just about every server ive been in, and whenever it loads up EVERYONE complains about the lag. so dont whine about low end users, when this map lags with 15 people no matter what quality.
Ohioan You need to defrag or something, because that's just not right given your specs.
Again, bullshit. I defrag nightly using PerfectDisk, I brutally suppress spyware and malware, I use Cacheman to maximize RAM usage, I'm running a trimmed-down version of XP Pro and run Windows Update regularly, and I've eliminated all unnecessary background processes. I keep my machine optimized for gaming. It isn't my machine. I've tested out the map's performance on three of my friend's computers; one low-end and the other two mid-range, and they all had horrid performance in the village, but the lowest-end model had the lowest performance hit. Doesn't make any damned sense.
Then explain how I run it fine? I do the same rigorous maintenance as you on my machine.. just I never run Windows Update. It could be SP1/SP2 that is screwing you over. "If it aint broke, dont update it" is my philosophy.
I'll get you some FRAPS movie of me in Eastern Blitz town (if I can find a populated server running it) showing my lack of lag.

Are you seriously suggesting that XP service packs are causing poor performance in a particular part of a particular map of a particular mod of a particular game, and nowhere else? That seems pretty unlikely, doesn't it?
