Well, I've never really posted any suggestions before. Which is probably a good thing. But I was wondering if it would be possible and what you guys think on the idea of. When you have someone in tank cupola, Whether it’s a gunner or like on the StuG. To have the ability to call out targets to only the crew of that tank can see, to alert them of say the position of an enemy vehicle or infantry. By maybe having some sort of icon or arrow on the mini map or tank direction diagram at the bottom of the screen.
Its a rather stupid idea which probably isn’t even possible or useful but I thought Id throw it out there and see. It might spark an idea for an actualy useful idea. :) I hope.
I think it something similer was suggested .
It's not a terrible idea as such -- you are basically describing a vehicle commander -- except I suspect that it's impossible to create a position with those capabilities, in BF1942.
Yes, it sounds like a great idea, but the engine limitations won't let it happen. Maybe an SDK can make something similar to an artillery call that would appear for the tank?
Download DCR and try it out. The driver/commander position has a neat feature. Primary fire is a sound that plays only for tank occupants that is "turret turn left" and secondary fire is "turret turn right". It would be possible to give those commands to a new position on the tank like an optional commander.
And we could get rid of those nasty F10 and F11 views....
That's not bad. Remember tho.. for some reason the Stug3G picks up Atry spots. So, it could work just as stated I believe.
Funny, I've been thinking of somthing similar recently. Something like having an actual commander's position (commander/MGer) who has binocs and can spot for the tank rather like spotter for artillery and the driver/gunner would get some little "turn this'a way" icon directing him to the target. Doubt it'll happen, but it'd kick serious ass.
Whta might help would be if you the little tank symbol in the HUD was changed. At the moment it show in which direction you tank is pointing and where the turret is pointing.
Well, exchange that symbol with a clock diagramm around it. So, when your turret is pointing straight ahead it would be 12 o´clock. When your turret is pointing left, it would be 9 o´clock etc. This diagramm might help communicating in TS...
