Emperor Norton I;3802717O.K., this thread is starting to take a downbeat turn. Let's try to keep it a little upbeat.[/quote] Ok! [quote=Emperor Norton I;3800740]One thing I want to see is Gallows. Bodies hanging from them would be artistically a good touch, but not neccesary in my mind. Hitler Bust [don't know if that violates any international laws] Heavy use of German flags[See Indiana Jones 3 Berlin Scene; swastikaless ofcourse] Reichstag and Hitlers Bunker on Berlin map(s) [dead Hitler model optional;) It would make me happy though] Soviet Communist imagry in statues, etc. Animal Bones in desert [Camels, Horses, etc.] Soldier Remains in the desert [Uniform over a skelaton (which I think would be the coolest) or whatever the case may be], "lost" platoons

Nice starting position, chief!

Spoiler: Show
Actually, I think these would be good touches, and it'd be cool to have mirages in the desert, images of some French Legionnaires from the 1840's marching off into the desert. Despite thinking that the gallows might be a good inclusion for atmosphere, I'm wondering if that will draw people because "OMG jsut liek Enumy at teh Gates!1!!!!!" or something...

Eve Braun in a string bikini:lol:

I'm not sure if a mirage would be able to work on the bf2 engine.

Remember the bird flocks flying away in BF2? Pack of monkeys disappearing into the jungle in Eve Of Destruction? Surely this can be done. Imagine a patrol of dead French Legionnaires appearing in the horizon and quickly fading away into the wind. That would be a great easter egg.

Why France. If there was a mirage, I'd rather see Romans or Carthage, or German/British Soldiers of the First World War. Or maybe a Grim Reaper or something; there's a whole pantheon that can be discussed.

mirage is a natural Phenomenon occur is hot areas like deserts, it's not something like UFO, legendary thing.

need not to explain it in physics? ...? mirage image is formed by Reflection of light : / France might be too far away, i by far only see possibility of either an African Town, Tunis, Cairo(the pyramids), or Malta, perhaps you could see a few Battleship and carriers...

He was referring to something that was more the effect of a mind, not the effect of light(which usually only makes light that looks like a puddle of water, or perhaps bends light so that you can see something that is much farther away). How many battles were there in North Africa in WWI? I was thinking the French Foreign Legion because Algeria is their homeland, their birthplace, in my opinion, seeing a bunch of French Foreign Legionnaires marching and fading in and out of view would be awesome, and fitting for North Africa.

Hell, if we were doing a map along the coast of Egypt/in the area of Tripoli, it'd be cool to see a few Navy officers, Marines, and a few hundred mercenaries marching around. Hmm, an idea, make it so that about 5 seconds off the map (I use this as a distance measure, 5 seconds of walking=however many meters) you can find a kit for an Marine of the 18th/early 19th century. So a flintlock musket that deals hell of damage, a cutlass, not to mention whatever other snazzy items you could think of.

In an Alpenfestung-type map we could have the Jerries and the Brits team up to fight these ghost soldiers! That would be seriously awesome! :naughty:
