First of all, your should post alot more details if you want precise answers..

By "my other computers hard drive seems to be uninstalled" I asume you mean it cant be detected when you start your computer, and you cant enter windows.

Located on the end of your harddrive, besides the IDE/ATA cable, is a set of small "pins". These pins define if your harddrive is set to function as master or slave. There should be a "map" detailing the different pin settings printed ontop of your hardrive. Check if these are set to function the way you want them to.

If this is the only harddrive in the computer, or is one of two loading the OS (windows) - Pins should be MASTER

Yes i am sorry. i Was in a bit of a rush. Yes the hard drive is set to master. But the computer doesnt read the hard drive at all. I can't get on to windows or anything. I've already faced that i'll have to format and reinstall. but i can't even do that at this point. When i go to reinstall windows Xp is says that there is no hard drive installed or (mass storage) .. i know i need a boot disk or something like that. But i have no idea how to get one... this really sucks by the way.. anything thing u might be able to do would be great.. thank you very much

The Win XP Cd can be used as a boot disk if you set the CD rom as the first boot device, i think...

When starting your computer, press "del" a couple of times until you enter BIOS. Check if your harddrive is recognized by BIOS. If its not, open the side door of comp and listen if the hdd is making any sound at all..

Also in Bios you should be able to choose between 3 boot devices. Set Cd-rom as nr1 hdd nr2, and floppy nr.3.

I think your hdd is dead. Listen carefully to it while booting, do you hear spinning?

You cant force bios to recognize a device. If its not seen in bios, you cant use it in any other part of computing. Check IDE cable? Put it in another comp and test it?
