My firewall log shows it blocked a newtear attack on 2 occasions when I was playing COD (deathmatch) online. The attack came from an IP address linked to the server I was on. I looked on the internet and found a whole load of info about newtear attacks, but couldn't understand the technical stuff. I gathered it is a 'denial of service' attack, which I assume is an attempt to close down my computer. On one occasion I found myself disconnected from the game, but was able to get onto another server. The disconnection may have nothing to do with newtear attack. But I really don't understand it. 1. What is a newtear attack in the context of gaming? 2. Should I take any action? Thanks for your help in advance :uhm:

If the IP from the security log matches the game server its probably nothing.
