In the past few years of playing FH I always wondered what’s up with the teamplay in this game, as it’s supposed to be a “tactical teamshooter” not just an unreal tournament like “team-deatchmatch” and I came to the conclusion that a vast portion of “anti-teamplay” and retardet behaviour is in fact to blame on one single game element – the scoreboard! I mean: at the end of the round there is no big “Allies captured Berlin!” screen, no it’s “Peter is the best player, Steve is second and George get a bronze medal!”. So most people just look how great “they” are while playing, no one cares for bleeding tickets! So guys camp around for kills at some lonesome flag with kingtigers instead of charging them directly to the front! Notorious example: Ramelle Neuville! Most of the time allies win, because the German team is full of score-campers who sit around with heavy tanks in front of the village instead of actually charging in! Then, at the end of the round Germans loose, but the campers don’t care since they “won the contest” and a gold medal award is presented for the best “75 kills, 0 deaths” tank camper! Or take for example all the bailers: Why do people bail, if they have no chute an will die anyway? It’s simple: They don’t want the other player to get the scorepoints! Or the guys apologizing all the time, that they have so low score today and normally they would be much better and stuff. - Hey! Who cares? This is no eSport tournament! So why maintaining scorepoints anyway? They are a relict of the old pre-battlefield deathmatch days! Do you really think otherwise people wouldn’t fight and just stand there to get killed? As it was announced that BF2 would try to enhance teamplay by focussing even more on score-points, like giving scorepoints for repairing tanks, extra scorepoints for commanders, “best pilot on the map” stats ect., the additional introduction of global scorepoints, medals, badges, unlocks for “achievements” and the whole ranked server thing in general, it was clear that things could only get worse! And it got worse: “Score-Whores” around every server, pilots posing as commander to get the extra score-point bonus, even if they can’t command while flying, winning team joiners for the extra winning-score ect. and of course all the “Look matey, I am a General of the US army – for real!” guys posting scores in signatures at every battlefield forum. On the other hand: I think EA knew pretty much exactly what they were doing by introducing the ranked servers, using the well known psychological patterns of teenage rivalry combined with a subliminal way to sell virtual weapons to make money: “Show your pals how great you are and get the famous AWP sniper rifle!” – But fist you have to buy the booster package including the actual AWP (and also the Special-Forces addon, to be able to use the booster pack) and then have to spent some hours on expensive rankend servers to be allowed to use ("unlock") the thing! Just for the record - I had a pretty good laugh as they introduced the gas grenades with Special-Forces: People at regular servers can now be attacked with gas grenades, but only the ones who spent 25$ for the addon get the gasmasks :fistpunch:. And I fear with FH going BF2 things could get worse for FH2, too and things turn even more in a kind of “team-deathmatch” shooter, with 30 other guys on your side to distract the enemy and 30 victims you can “frag” for your own glory. So, the game mechanics should focus consequently on teamplay only, no more score-whores! Just set all scorepoints in the scoreboard permanently to “0” (ok, maybe teamkillers could still be marked with a negative score)! FH is meant to be played for the atmosphere, the team, the spirit!
I don't think this would be a good idea. People like to see how well they are doing, its part of the whole 'fun' part of playing a game: games have points, whoever has the most is a 'winner', and they usually feel pretty good. It also motivates the other people to become better players and this may correspond with them becoming better teammates as well.
Also, points serve a practical as well. Would you rather join a squad with a leader with a ton of flag capture points or a guy with a negative score known for shooting his teammates in the back? (I know you mentioned this in your post but what would be the point in just showing everyone the shitty players and not the good ones?)
FH2 no matter how realistic, is still just a game, and its meant to be fun. I believe I represent the thoughts of many who would agree that throwing the point counter out the window would be a mistake.

Scores are good, and they add a new aspect to the game. I personally like it. Its a good way of knowing whether you have gotten better on certain maps like Arnhem, as allied for example.
Also, FH2 has a better scoring system IMO. Its a completely different game from BF2 as far as I have experienced so far.
Agree that stats kill teamwork and enjoyable gameplay. Ditch stats completely for a happier world.
I'll just wait to see what is the current system in FH2...
I agree too
shit stuff like BFstats filled FH with dumb fraghunters...
I never hesitated to teamkill such assholes wasting a Panther to spawnrape, while their side is being pwnd cause they desperately need this Panther to go on...
The worst is those rubber heads may think that they are good, or even usefull
And I would also lobby to remove the killchatmessages, and be able to feign death, and double the points of the attacking side

This is a team based game. You cannot be a winner if your team loses the battle.

I agree somewhat with this. So maybe points should be accumulated but shown only at the end for the winning side. The losing team would get zero points.
