Sounds like there are plenty of practicable alternatives to flags/spawn points that don't involve having everyone spawn way the hell @ the back and having to truck up to the front.

Next Bf2 patch will remove this feature btw. But nothing that can't be reactivated in a mod though.
@ LoyalReaperDragon I didn't mean the anti-basecamp system :) But a way of showing where the overall front-line is. Kinda like hmm, Rise of Nations has.

That would totally rock! Not sure if it would be possible in BF2 but I would die to get something like that.
i hate all forward base spawning! i totally agree all spawning should be from back bases only on ALL maps, no matter how large. this is a realism mod, lets start see'ing some realism. ppl complain about 5 min walk, 1 sec death... well dont advance like a noob and die like one. move in slowly with whole team like real forces do, no running off by yourself BS like we have now. no millitary anywhere operates like this. in a real battle your platoon leader would assign you a position and you wouldnt be allowed to leave it period. it would be your job to guard that position/flank no matter what, unless ordered to do otherwise. die there if necassary. leaving your post=coart-martialed. the whole unit always moves together. if a unit loses troops, then they need to be reinforced from the back by fresh troops. thats how it works IRL, and thats how it should work here too. this lack of patience, "I cant do a 30 sec ride from a back base" is lame. you guys should be playing dod not bf, that want forward spawning.. whats the point of having a big battlefield if its not used realistically. everyone always spawning within 100m of eachother... i vote for NO forward spawns of any kind!
Remember that some battles represent events from few days, then the lines would moove and units wouldn't wait for being called at far away positioned bases. Also think how it would work on my map for example, big infantry only map. Finally, you can have some serious conversations with Lobo on this matter.;)
in these battles no troops teleported to the front line.
