I tryed the Search button and typed in Normandy map, shortened to Normandy but didn't spot any threads upon it thus I would like to bring up a community discussion about a map based on, the Normandy airdrop.

I do not know what it is exactly called but before or during Omaha their was the massive paradrop across Northern France, nearby the coast which was flawed due to the vast quantites of AA platforms thus heavily disfragmented parachuters which really was their success.

I propose we share our ideas and thoughts on a FH2 map involving this scenario. Like how would the American parachuting players be introduced and Germans, vehicles?

From my knowledge how about this way? -------- Foremost the airdrop is not Conquest but Objective based. Their would exist 5 flags across the map that're uncapturable but one can be destroyed by the Allied. The Germans have one that is a outpost and inside a HQ structure is a large set of radios. Upon their destruction the flag vanishes including this particular flag is the farthest out. The vehicles are several Opel's and one Kubelwagon. One Pzkpwf, the early panzer that spawns when the radio setup is destroyed.

The Americans spawn from several flags in the air with either M1-Garands, Thompsons or Carbines. Across the map is several wreckages of Transport planes and inside is pickup kits like sniper rifles and also afew paradropped ammunition crates.

The objective is simple. Nearby each individual flag is a AA platform. 4 Flak-30's, if I am correct those 4 barreled guns and 1 Flak-88. Upon their death the map is won by the Allied. German players must patrol and protect each of them for the duration as the Allied are bleeding and their sanity amongst the populous should be insane.

My cool feature is so that the American paradropping spawns in the air every minute move 2 grids away from previous and beginning thus to represent the randomity and mixup of the airdrop.

Moved to Suggestions forum

The allied airborne invasion of Normandy was codenamed 'Operation Neptune'.

Just FYI, a day prior to D-Day there was also an Allied airdrop into Brittany comprising SAS British and SAS French soldiers. Their job was to coordinate the Resistance in delaying German troops from being relocated from Brittany to Normandy; they were largely successful.

I think the map should be made like so. 4 Flags All under german control 3 spwans in the air for the americans comming down from 200 meters in parashurts Most of the map if foresty with rivers and farm house and a lots of aa guns. The top left of the map the town of st mera eglies. Including houses barns and lots of buildings. Also a chruch tower with a german mg in it and a sniper. Germans- Lots of 88 and flak guns to shoot the americans in the air 5 or 6 mg holes and outposts Americans- Once they take a flag the spwans in the air disaper so if they lose the flag on the ground they lose. Squad spwaning will be good in this becuase they squad will meet up and work together.

Squad spawning shouldn't be included in this map, airborne forces were so sctatered that it was realy hard to form units. I would suggest to take one existing location and recreate it. Paratroopers should spawn in very different heights, some were falling very long, in other cases the parachute opening sound was almost covering with hitting the ground.

I would much rather see a paradrop map where the allies have to board transports then jump out over drop points, like on crete. I really dont like the idea of fixed spawn ponts in the sky where the enemy can just camp right below you cuz they know exactly where you are going to land.
