This thread is to suggest some North African statics for FH2. I know there has already been some statics made but FH is all about variety. These are gathered from various places around the web. Some of these photos have watermarks because I got them from stock photo sites.

I noticed in a lot of photos that rocks were often substituted for sandbags as a means of cover. I think it would be a cool variation on sandbag walls we're all used to. I found it difficult to find good pictures of NA buildings. The first two show what I'm guessing was a common type of building method. They are constructed from stones and then covered with a smooth white facade. You can see that the facade has crumbled away during the fighting. I think the partly crumbled facade would be a nice touch if a ruined building static is modeled. I also like the windows in the first picture. A landscape suggestion: The desert landscape varied somewhat (as in the top two pics). In some places it was all sand, while in other places there were many shrubs, and some other places were strewn with many small rocks. I'm not a mapper but from what I've heard about the battlefield undergrowth system I thought it might be easier to implement this than in bf1942 because instead of having to place each shrub or rock the mapper could treat them as a type of grass and apply them to the landscape faster.

If anybody wants to add some statics that they've found feel free to do so.

Yes, you're right, this utility havs benn implemented already in Battlefield: Vietnam editor. As for the photos, much of enlisted stuff should be included.:nodding:

In my research on Sidi Rezegh I found out the following.

1) The ground is featureless sand down to about 2-3 inches. Below that is sand that has been compacted over the years to have the consistency of sandstone. HE shell hits had a tendancy to not penetrate but were absolutely deadly because the HE blast was at ground level instead on penetrating into the ground.

2) There were very few if any trees unlews near a town or Oasis. Almost all the ground was covered by a species of Saltbush which grew from 6 inches to 18 inches high.

3) The ground was literally covered with small rocks that varied in size but were on average fist sized to basketball sized.

4) Libiyan buildings were usually dried mud bricks and then plastered over. The plaster ranged from actual plaster to mud. Sometimes buildings recieved whitewash over the outer plaster like covering
