you know, wespes are often open topped, with a cloth covering it maybe.

this could make them more realistic :)

and also many things are open topped, i bet we are going to see a open topped m10 in game.

Do you want them to be just seem to be open topped like Marder or do you want it to be possible to shoot players inside these things like the 222, M36 and M8 which are in FH?

That would be realistic to shoot the crew of SPG's, would require protecting them from sneaky infantry.

SPGs shouldn't be assault guns -- they are artillery. The point of an SPG is to create a reasonably all-terrain platform to move a big cannon from A to B. Maybe, as in the case of the Priest/Sexton/Bishop/Wespe/Hummel/whatever is to, maybe, protect the crew from shrapnel and the occasional bullet. Wespes, according to Domain Maintenance, carried AP ammo, "just in case", but that wasn't their primary role.

The Wespe was open-topped and I think this is an excellent suggestion. All pictures I see of them in operation show the crew not huddled down inside, so I guess you should be able to shoot people out of it -- if you get to the place behind the front where one is deployed.

As for the M36, can we _please_ have crew keep their heads down a bit more realistically in FH2, or put the cover on them that most were equipped with?

And M10s -- open top, canvas or metal covering as well.

So? Oh I see, you thought I was proposing a randomization of the M36/M10 tops. Nah, just asking that _something_ be put on top, whether it be canvas or the metal grenade shields. If someone's going to go to the trouble of making two distinct models, might as well just put them both in game at different spawn points or in different maps.

Do what they did for 222's! Gun down=closed, gun up=opened! That way you can fling off annoying infantry.

How about putting one without the open top and the other with the open top in the same map so we can get a mixture of both worlds. Just press a key to make the open top cloth disappear on the open top Wespe.
