Its perfectly possible to frag a tank crew, it was irl, if the commander didnt lock the hatch, didnt have infantry support.. etc, so it was pretty rare, yeah.. and an enemy tank is not exacly the best spot to jump on. I believe some countries even developed disk-shaped nades to shove trough the drivers viewport.. Having said that, there should be no way to frag a tanks crew when the hatch is down in FH.

All you need to do is to put a couple of rounds, with any weapon, into the tank. I read somewhere that one or two shots from an M1 Carbine made over 400 scratches/marks on the inside of a sherman tank. who needs a grenade...

Position the tank crew in seating positions inside the tank model. Just like you seat the players in a jeep. Then make the appropriate weapons able to penetrate the tanks armor and vĂ³ila! I would like to see a toggle key for the tanks machinegunner. Then a simple animation where the player model would spread his arms a little bit (to let go of the mg) and quickly descent inside the tank and the the hatch would quickly close. Inside the tank the machinegunner would be able to look through those small observartion holes if the tank has any (e.g. the Tiger). On tanks that have no external mg (e.g. the T34) you could have the tank commander rise out of the hatch. Otherwise make the tank commander rely on his limited view through his cupola and gunsights and on communication with the machinegunner. For the tank commanders cupola view you could use the mouselook key. BF2 engine has squads and native VOIP, you know.

Someone said that the commander and gunner hatches are different. They are not. The commander had control of the hatch machine gun, but it was not recommended to use it during battle. And there is a physical body inside tanks with the tanks, you have to do F9 then do F10 and you will see a flash of skin-colored pixels. Cheers, from Gemini's wurst nitemare.

huh, I wonder why they'd bother to do that when you can't even see the driver. All it is is one more thing to tax a computers visual capabilities. Well at least we know that there's someone inside to kill now.

would it really hurt a cpu's fps that much, i dont think so. its a small round object that appears up and down wiht a person coming out of it i dont think it will put too much effect on a pc....

But still, every little bit helps to improve framerate. One person inside a tank wouldn't make much difference, but what about 30?
