In Close Combat 3 the starting map is called operation and I think it would make a great FH map. The Germans could have Panzer 2s, 3s and 4s and hanomags and stukas. While the Russians would have old crappy equipment but if used properly maybe could fend off the Germans. I think there need to be more Russian early war maps in FH

Yes, that would make a great map. Think it took place along the Berenzina (SP?) river. There was also a very popular custom map of it in Call of Duty: United Offensive. A small excerpt from http://www.iwnation.com/Forums/index.php?showtopic=13415: After-Hourz.com Development Team presents: "Barbarossa". The Blitzkrieg has begun! The men and machines of Panzer Group 2 are racing across Western Russia. Minsk has fallen, hundreds of thousands of troops and vehicles have been destroyed, captured, and dispresed across forests, swamps and fields along 1,000 miles of front. The Russian Army has turned to fight, once again, now digging in and preparing positions along the Berezina River, east of Minsk on the road to Smolensk and eventually, Moscow. Can the broken infantry and armor regiments of the 4th Army pull together a solid defense? Can they stop the Panzers here, at the Berezina? Can you take on the challenge to Shatter the regrouping defense and be the first Panzer over the Berezina? Is it you who can be the KV-1 Commander to single-handedly stop and destroy multiple Panzers on the fields before the river?

Take part now in the single greatest adventure in 'Call of Duty' Multiplayer, take part in 'Barbarossa'!

Offering 8 new vehicles and stationary weapons, 'Barbarossa' depicts the head on collision of the 17th Panzer Division with mixed infantry and armor units of the staggered Russian 4th Army as they try to hold back Guderian's spearhead.

As the Greatest Invasion of all time it has gone pretty much unnoticed. The battles of Kiev and the one you said would be good. But why stop there? Lets see a good Leningrad map, or better yet MOSCOW RETALIATES. That Battle may not be famous on the whole but it was arguably the most important battle of the 2nd world war.

There already is a barbarosa map bud, came out ages ago, bit of a forgotten mystery, infact i think I used to play it with the merciless add-on for BF1942, then when they retreated from the mod community the map seems to disappear.. in fact I'd wager that there are already two varients of Op Barbie in circulation.

18BravoYes, that would make a great map.

I'd fight off the bastards in my T-28, T-35 and I-15! OK, I'd die 50 million times, but we're agreed that the Soviets would have 500 times as many tickets as the Germans, right?

This would be a great scenario for further exploring my predilection for antiquated, unreliable and totally impractical vehicles of war... :-)

When it comes to planes the Germans would have the advantage in an Op. Barbarossa map but a good pilot would hold his own against 109s in an I 16 Mosca. When it comes to tanks one could argue that the Soviets are at the advantage, they did recive a few KV tanks as well as early T34s and on many occasions they were able to hold up German advances. The T 26 and BT 7 maybe weaker than the Pz III but they can surely hold thier own.

I was there when the old Barbarossa map was once played. The map was not very big. There was a hill in the middle trees around. There where 3 flags. 1 North, 1 in the middle in fact right on top of the hill itself and there was a flag down south. A remade map of this caliber, bigger and with vehicles and planes the russians then had to their disporsal together with the Germans of course would not seem too bad would it? :)
