The reason I say BB's should have depth charges is because right now they are helpless against submerged submarines.
As was said, they are supposed to be as they were historically. BB's didn't operate alone, they were escorted by destroyers.
NASAAN101;4393967Scharnhorst was on her own, on this.. what would have happened if Tritipz were there two, could she have protected her some what or is that a mod point? Nikki

Begone necropost!, begone back to the depths from which you came!
Generally its OK to dredge up a post on first or second page as long as its not over a few weeks to a month old. But this one is way beyond that.
Ok on that note...
If Tirpitz had joined I think it would have gone Germanys way up until Scharnhorst was sunk.
The Bismarck too a amazing amount of damage before it sunk. The main advantage against Bismark was that the Nelson had just been refitted with US 16" guns. The British 14" main guns were able to defeat the Scharnhorsts armor but the Tirpitz would have been a much toughter target IMHO.
Another big advantage was, of course, that the Bismarck's rudder had been damaged or destroyed by Swordfish torpedo bombers prior to her fateful encounter with the British fleet.
