Instead of having the LMG always up in a position to fire, can it be set up so that the LMG starts in an 'idle' or 'lowered' position? Then when you hold down the ironsights button your guy takes a few seconds to lift up his weapon so he can fire, but doesn't look down the sights, since he's firing from the hip. Also, I'd like to see the crosshairs removed from the LMG. Also are deployable bipods possible? I'm not taking about spawning a static, I'm thinking your guy takes a second to unfold his bipod, the ironsights come up, and you get superb accuracy and minimal recoil, but can't move. I don't want the LMG made useless while standing, but I would like it made akward. P.S.-- I don't hate the support class in FH, its one of my favorites. Also, I don't consider the BAR a LMG. And finaly, I don't know if using an LMG's ironsights while standing is possible or not as I've never fired one, but I assume that the combination of the weapon's weight, size, ROF, and the recoil produced when firing would make looking through the ironsights impractical while outside of the prone position.

Bro, you dont get "superb accuracy and minimal recoil" from a bipod. Its simply there so you can set your gun down and have somthing supporting the gun. But other than that, the idea with no crosshairs is good. BTW, your confusing me alot in what your saying. You are correct when you say its hard to look down the ironsights, its like that with every weapon. It takes a while to adjust. When firing a Thompson, its got an upwards recoil, the gun kicks back into your face. They used that as an advantage in the pacific theature, by turing the gun sideways and spraying the brush infront of them. But I dont think that should stop them from using ironsights in FH2, they should maybe slow it down a little.

Yeah looking back, I that was a silly choice of words. What I ment to say is that the weapon is easier to aim because its supported better and the effects of recoil are reduced. As for what I want. You know how the LMG soldiers in FH run around with their guns to their shoulders? I don't think they used to do that,(correct me if im wrong)at least not all the time. I would like to see the guys run around with the gun lowered, and have to take a second or two to lift it up to fire. I suggested removing ironsights because you would have 'Idle' and 'firing from the hip' instead of 'firing from the hip' and 'using ironsights'. Basicly I'd like to see LMGs set up the way they are in WWII online. Sorry for being confusing and if I'm still being confusing, just have patience and give me some time:uhm:

Yes I also would like to see that. It would be kind of a mix between Enemy Territory and CoD:UO. In ET if you don't deploy your MG42 on the ground you will only be able to fire it from your hip with extremely low accuracy. You can't deploy it on obstacles while crouching or standing though, you must go prone. In CoD:UO you can't even fire your LMG if you don't deploy it by going prone on the ground or by standing or crouching behind an obstacle, such as a window or sandbag that is a bit lower altitude than you in your current state (standing or crouching). I wonder why this deploy feature didn't come with BF2. I thought it was one of the "promised" features. Instead support gunners have these useless false bipods dangling from their MGs that are just for show. It doesn't help at all trying to fire behind a sandbag while crouching as I tried. You are always forced to go prone to fire with maximum accuracy and you don't even need to deploy it. Even if it seems so as the false bipod is set on the ground you can move freely with it while prone. I hope the FH devs can make it... In DoD it was possible and I don't recall seeing any deployable weapon in Half-Life 1. I think they had a better SDK though... We could hope for a good SDK for BF2 to come giving much better modding possibilites... If not maybe asking help from Dice could help? I really would prefer a "deploy your LMG freely onto obstacles or on the ground" option rather than "pickup-kit that spawns a deployed LMG model exclusively on the ground".

This is a really good Idea, this will help limit the LMGs being used as a Spray and Prey Weapon.
