You guys have the PTRD and PTRS's penetration set way too low. The PTRD was capable of penetrating 1.2 inches (30 mm) of armor at 500 yards. The PZ 3 had 30 mm of frontal armor and the PZ 4 had 27mm of frontal armor so why cant the PTRD and PTRS penetrate it? Just something I thought you should know.

Balance. The "range" in ole 42 is not to great. The Devs needed a way to make the range sort of right,so they most likely just made it weaker to make the game feel "bigger".Since FH1 is dead there i not anything we can do.

Well it depends on wich panzer 3 you are talking about. The panzer 3F had 30mm frontal armor, like you said. The panzer 3N on the other hand had 50mm frontal armor. And the other panzer 3's that we got ingame got 50mm frontal armor aswell. And you are wrong about the panzer 4D though it had 30mm of frontal armor. Regardless it all depends on the angle. If you cant hit a tank on the correct angle the bullet will have little effect. Wich is aswell the nice advantage of sloped armour. Although i dont know if this is true for FH though.

There's spaced armour to consider on the later models.

Doesnt really improve it that much but if the bullet hits something pre-maturely it's bound to effect it's overall penetration values.

Oh, and only the very early Panzer IV's had such weak frontal armour. This was greatly improved on the later models though. Cant really stress this enough.

Well, i think you underestimate the overall usefullness of spaced armour. If a bullet penetrates the spaced armour it starts to tumble, wich means its effectively "stopped" so to speak. Atleast that is how it works i think. :uhm:

Yeah, that is what I also have read. Spaced armor destroyed the damage done by both AT rifles and HEAT rounds.

And if that rifle round penetrated I doubt it would ever really do enough damage to outright destroy a tank. If you ask me the AT rifles are overpowered as it is. Just look at Eastern Blitz... tanks can often take more 20mm cannon hits than 7.92mm PzB35 hits! On that map I fear AT riflemen far more than any tank.

I played as a AT rifleman probably twice or so and, I thought they were underpowered but, it must have just been me since I seemed to do little damage to a light tank when I hit it in the rear armor.

A single player with a AT kit won't be much of a threat, a whole bunch of them will.

Last time i played Aberdeen the entire German side switched over to PzB35 and hided in the center house, before we even knew what happend 7 Crusader tanks where destroyed all over the place.

I agree, the PTRS/D is a little weakened. But you guys are looking at this the wrong way. One, you shouldn't be firing at the front of a tank, it will do less damage, and two, the best way to kill a Panzer III of any kind is to jump on top, jump to the top of the turret, and use AT grenades or an ATR on the open hatch. One hit there from a PTRD kills it. While this usually kills you, a single infantryman is probably worth less on for example Pavlov's House than a German PzIII.
