I keep thinking that BF1942 lacks the feel of real large scale battles because conquer maps with 5-6 flag points divides up the forces so much. Even in servers with say 40 players with a 20 vs 20 game thats only 4 units per flag. Many encounters end up being random and solo out in the field or spawn deaths. And because of the fast paced arcade nature of the game, people rush to flag points ignoring their teammates, and understandably so. The running around following people sneaking behind your lines to grab a flag with you chasing them in circles type of game, doesnt seem to fully capture ww2 battles. So my friends and i were thinking that if maps were of a "push" type of objective map where there is one spawn point for each team, and then one or two capturable point in the middle of map, it would mass forces from each side into some real battles. All other flag points would remain uncapturable until the first point was taken and then they proceded to move their line forward to the next point. A tug of war type match would ensue with much larger battles focused around a few points rather than diluded around many. Also I personally would love to have it so that players ONLY respawned as reinforcements from behind at the starting point and had to travel to the front rather than just spawning at a point just find yourself staring down a tank barrel. That time traveling to the front would allow the reinforcements time to plan attacks or god forbid, discuss some minor strategy or assignments. Would also give the side controlling the flag points time to set up defenses. As much as Call of Duty bores me, there is a wonderful custom map called "Gun-Assault" that was designed in this way. At all times both the allied and axis forces know where the point of confrontation is at, where the objective is to rally towards. Terrifically epic and challenging clashes of troops take place as one side struggles to capture the "building ruins" while the other team tries to push past the ruins and toward the next objective. Squads of troops gain advantage by doing rogue missions away from the current capture point possibly by harrassing the reinforcements traveling to the front or knocking out their armor units, etc, but each side is focused mainly on the current objective. I dont want to seem as if I'm expecting the FH devs to perform miracles (i know they have no sdk). just wondering if this is possible. I think it would add a fresh new type of game experience for FH fans.
So a DC style push map with all the spawn points locked out so that you can only spawn at your main base, it could work. However I would hate to be in the fall-out from DC fans who say that FH is just copying DC.
Push maps have been created with the BF1942 engine so it is possible. I think it is a pretty good idea for some maps.

Who really gives a shit on behalf of that. 1. If they bitch, we can shoot them down. These are our forums. 2. DC's dead. 3. It might encourage those gaming immigrants to pop over here and give us more people to kill while gaming. 4. It will make a game better. 5. Think of how many times a base gets lost to a singe soldier. Bullshit, dare I say.
Sooner than you think;)
Uhhuh, sounds interesting.

so, maybe in next version we could have a surprise??? ;)

Heh, I really hope so. I would love to play push maps in FH as well. Seems to fit well in an WWII themed game. It would make the whole team concentrate in 1 objective rather than desintegrating the team. Looking forward for it ;)
A truly great idea. Joint Ops does the same thing, and despite its all around suckiness, the battles are large and impressive. 5 out of 5, not bad.
But there is a small complication to work around:
While push-style playing will indeed prevent lone soldiers from capturing flags behind the lines, it won't prevent them from sneaking around to steal vehicles from the main base.
Needless to say, this kind of crap really detracts from the potential realism of the gameplay.
