I was just wondering if...well there would be the ability to have a random tank stall or breakdown completly such as the engine catches on fire and is there fore imobile but still retains full health. Somthing like stalling would be interesting. This would mostly happen for tanks such as the ones that had more mechanical problems like the early Panthers or the Tigers or KT. A stall would consist of the engine just shutting off and the tank stopping and would require you to exit the tank and re-enter, or just switch to hull MG then back to driver/gunner to restart the tank. These would be rare, maybe 1 or 2 per map and would raise the level of thrill if suddenly the tank stalls when it is spotted by an enemy tank and must take quick thinking to get it started and moving to keep it safe. Secondly for complete breakdowns, the tank would stop as in the stall and the engine would catch fire but the tank would retain its complete and full health. The only difference is of course that you can't restart the tank yourself and need to wait it out, or unless some way can be figured to have a certian repair command used to get it working again. IDK how it would work but I thought I'd just throw this idea around just for shits and giggles.
Id be glad to see mines immobilizing and damaging tanks instead of just causing damage. Maybe mine would have some probability that it would immobilize AND damage than just damage alone?
Well, that would be awesome, but unfortunately, as far as I know, it's not possible with BF engine.
Just thinking FinnWars has track-drive (different forward/backward per track) so I'D GUESS that it wouldnt be impossible to stop only one track from moving. Would give quite realistic mine damage to tracks.
I think the way it's laid out, you could do it in Finnwars (2 movement functions for each track) so that one track could be lost. (just disable 2 functions)
However, FH has, instead of 2 functions per track, 4 functions for the whole vehicle, so you couldn't make a tank only able to move in circles, as would happen IRL if you lost a track. If you disable forward movement, you could still go backwards, in either direction. Same in reverse if you disable backwards. If you disable either direction (or both), tank could still go forwards or backwards. I think best that could be done with FH is to have tank either fully mobile or immobile. This is all assuming it could be done.
Would be similar to when low on health, the EoD huey loses it's tail rotor and goes mad in the yaw axis.
