FuzzyBunnyI don't know where you get the teleport bit from, but yes. :-)
Just expressing my annoyance at how rather than getting into a vehicle in Battlefield games, the player merely stands near it and instantly 'teleports' inside by pressing E. :-)
It's possible to set it so that when a team captures a flag, vehicles will spawn in different locations, so say while Germany occupys the flag a panther spawns at location A, if the US captures it a sherman will spawn at points B and C (aroudn the spawn point). So while the enemy vehicle may still be there, yours will be there as well.

I know that in Battlefield 1942 at least, such a thing isn't possible. Whilst there are seperate positions/vehicles depending on which team holds the point, it's still treated as a single spawn by the game. However, what it could be used for is having the tank(s) spawn at the main bases.

For example, if the Germans capture a particular control point, an extra Panzer spawns at their uncappable base, and vice-versa.

I would be in favour of such a thing. I haven't got a clue as to whether it's possible in BF2 though.

The GTA engines did it much better, indeed. In Silent Heroes you at least had to get next to the door of the vehicle to get in.

Maybe if tanks were such that you had to climb up to the hatch and then hit "E" to enter it. Just an idea, and possibly not such a good one as some tanks are bitches to get on top of.

I think a better idea would be to have a timer that only allows a vehicle to be captured after a set amount of time. This way it takes a minute or two to steal an enemy vehicle and would represent your charecter figuring out the controls. Maybe even make it so the tank figets around as if your charecter were playing with the controls so that there is an external warning sign that someone is in it who shouldn't be.

Then jeeps and trucks would have a shorter time just to represent the hotwiring itself then you can drive off.

Not sure if it's even possible in BF2 but it's worth a shot. Or also simple making it so only tankers can capture an enemy tank might work since they would already have a rudimentry idea of how to control a tank.

It's the same thing as a pilot. More then likely it wouldn't take long for a Mustang pilot to figure out how to fly a ME109. It might take a good deal longer for a bomber pilot to become a fighter jock and the other way around but that's not represented in the game.

Hell I sat in the cockpit of an F-4 Phantom once and it took me about 5-10 mins to figure out what were the throttle, rudder pedals, stick, gagues, and weapon's systems(mostly) I would have been able to fly the thing if it had been working, albeit not well.

And that brings me to my final solution. Make it longer and more annoying to control complicated enemy vehicles. If at all possible make it so that an Allied pilot flying in an Axis plane is slower, more sluggish, the same with tanks.

My opinion hasn't changed. I still believe vehicles should be unlocked like it was in the last versions of FH. I feel its more realistic, better for game play, and it is balanced. Also heres some pics.

I will have to challenge this.

There are certain tanks that don't require training to use.

One of them being the T-34. Anyone, with half a brain, can figure out how to drive it without prior experience.

Some tanks, like the Leopard which I am aware is modern, are easy as to figure out as well due to the user-friendly steering wheel.

Why not make it so that only Tank commanders are able to enter enemy tanks?

They would have had training on how tanks worked so they would have some idea on how to operate a enemy tank.

Not at all. That's already been covered.

Better for game-play

I'd say it's worse for game-play.

And it is balanced

Nope, as it gives you tanks your team's not meant to have. On certain maps, that can wreck havoc on balance.

Why not make it so that only Tank commanders are able to enter enemy tanks?

Because it'd be nearly impossible to implement.

It is realistic. Just look at the pics I posted if you don't believe so. Gameplay is better because its less limited and there are less poblems like Wokky stated. All vehicles unlocked = balance.

It doesnt help balance when the allies get a kingtiger from the axis on maps where they dont have any effective means of taking it out, unlike the allies.
