For the Germans in FH2 i think it'd be great if what weapon you have depends on your rank. It would be way more authentic and realistic than if everyone could have any gun they wanted. In the German army of WW2, only NCOs, officers, and specialty soldiers (i.e mortar teams, artillerymen, and engineers) had fully automatic weapons. Contrary to popular belief, not every German soldier had an mp-40/mp-38, it was wall reserved for the noncoms and officers. The only exception to this was the stg-44, which any rank could carry. I just think it would add more too the mod, add a bit more authenticity. Just my 2 cents.

But only certain units were normally equiped with Stg-44s (except some special cases), basically Waffen-SS and Fallschirmjager used it mostly. Beside probably some fixed units near the end of the war when there was no regular German army but only Nazi fanatics defending Berlin and Alps.

A few Heer units did have the stg-44, like the Gross Deutshland Division, but for the most part you're right. As for the porblem with the ranking system, would it be possible to make it so that classes (assault,engineer,antitank etc.) correspond to rank? For example, making special forces into NCOs with mp-40s. The catch is that there can only be so many players on that side who can be NCOs, so once it reaches the maximum number of NCOs, people must choose another class. Is this possible?

although im all for limiting the # of certain classes PER SQUAD, to have a class limit for the entire team is a bad idea. imagine if a bunch of inexperienced players all went with the mortor class, thus locking u out of it, or when u desperatly need a officer or AT kit to spot or kill that camping panzer, but the limit is filled? im fine iwth the way it is now.

This would require ranks, now FH *could* add them (it would require ranked servers to be setted up though and chanches for that are very small), more over the devs don't feel like FH needs ranks and thus won't add them. Your proposed system can not be implented.

McGibs was talking about a system where you would't get hordes of Class#4 swarming over maps in FH2, involving a class limiting system.

I don't have much problem with a ranking sytem, I'm not too keen on a rank-based-unlockable-weapons system though. Generally most of my curiosity about score is settle at the end of each map in the summary screens.

I think in order to get all the uber-kewl weapons in FH2, you should have to go out of bounds and battle gatling gun Hitler from Wolfenstein 3D for them:
