Ever since Bf1942 there was a limitation on how often you could spam a radio command. But no such limitation on how fast you could spot for artillery with the binoculars. With the introduction of recon reports in BF2, there's another item which can be spammed.
I'd like to suggest more stringent rate limits for these actions.
Maybe spotters can use their binocs for arty targets once every 3? 5? 10? seconds. People who non-stop spam these make it impossible to use the artillery gun. When do you really need to spot more often than every 10 seconds?
Recon spots in BF2 are pretty easy to spam as well, maybe once every 2 seconds or longer? The less superfulous radio chatter going on the better you can make sense of what's said.
I've also found BF2's radio commands to be easily spammable. Again, giving you 3 every 10 seconds or so sounds like plenty. It's realllll hilarious when you get a commander that constantly spams one message over and over (has no rate limit).
You could also just ask them to stop spamming, as the problem lies not with Forgotten Hope, but the players themselves.

Agreed, that should prevent people from hitting the same button 10 times in under 5 seconds but still allow for mutlple radio commands in a row. The "perfect" system would be to trust on the people themselfs not to abuse the radio commands but we all know that is impossoble. :p :(
I just don't see the arguement where one says "Wait, I need to spot 10 things in rapid succession!" Especially with binocular artillery and voice commands. I'm not saying make it once a minute, but there's a limit to how fast you can do these things and have it be anything other than abuse.
Besides, reporting an enemy's position takes time. Is it not realistic to not have the ability to report as fast as you click? YOu might have to be semi selective about it.
Even commanders should have the limiters, have you ever played a match where the commander doesnt know how to use the UAV and is just continually spotting? It's fantastically annoying.
I've seen matches where the "Praise Squad" message is being spammed continuously by the commander at the rate of 4-5 per second. The entire text chat portion of the screen was unusuable, to say little for the repeating-wav sound annoyance.
bf2 has so many radio spammers because when you hit the "enemy infantry spotted" button. the built in wallhack/UAV, gives away every enemy in a 1 mile radius....no matter how hidden they are, even over mountains etc.... so needless to say its constantly spammed, so you can wallhack/UAV the enemy...if you hadnt notice the enemys red arrows show on your mini-map whenever you hit this radio command. this is the absolute lamest feature in bf2 imo

EDIT: I just got the feeling that about everyone now seems to find the "user/n00bfriendly" BF2 old enough and let the mods roll in before i sell my comp! As for contemporary games, I have picked up DoD:S which is quite good although a little frantic, and I am eagerly waiting for FH2 and Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45.
I like the recon function myself, but I think it should only work if you can see the enemy tag and hit it exactly. That and it should be hard to spam via rate limits.
