I have no idea if it's possible, but it'd be nice to have more realistic parachutes. The simplist way I can think of is to put a 1 or 2 second delay between when you press 9 (or whatever) and when the parachute deploys. This would then in theory stop low level parachuting (like parachuting after being thrown in the air by a tank shell). I know that most maps don't have paarachutes, but it'd be good for the ones that do.

how would you like seeing people falling from the sky for several seconds before their chute seems to apper from thin air in Operation Market Garden.yeltongue.gif

Paracutes of Paratroops where opend, when they Jump out of the Transportplane. So Market Garden is correct. But for Paracutes of Pilots it would nice. I would like two versions of Paracutes: 1. for Pilotes with a delay 2. for Paratroops, witch opens automaticly when you leave the Plane

they should have parachutes as a 'vehicle', so that when it gets shot you can fall to the floor fast like you would in real life and then you maybe able to have a delay

as long as momentum is not preserved i can't support this. remember that when you bail out you have a lot of speed already, and the chute would fold out very quickly. in the last "realistic parachutes" thread we discussed parachute's deploytime (emergency chutes in particular), and that under a lot of conditions one might survive even without a completely deployed chute. there are too many variables the BF-engine has no hope of considering, for this to become very realistic. then there's the fact that BF forces us to fly at hair-raising altitudes at all times. valid bail-out altitude should be from about 1.5-2 treetop heights and above.

it's a bit like the "completely realistic" (tm) plane handling in .61, that was unfit for the scale of the engine. every move towards realism has to be balanced in every other link in the chain, or the result is a move away from realism instead.

This would then in theory stop low level parachuting (like parachuting after being thrown in the air by a tank shell).

just don't play vanilla. FH doesn't have parachutes for infantry. if anything you should make a thread for more realistic tank-vs-infantry damage, and removal of goofy-physics....

It would be nice to have a random 1-2 opening delay so that people cant hit it at the last second. The safest way to deploy would be ASAP.

Yeah that. Anything to make people not deploy 2 ft from the ground.

You still could hit it 1-2 secondes before you usually would with the same low level parachtuing effect, it just would take more skill, and better anticipation. THe better thing to do would be to have the chute automatically open 1-2 seconds after leaving a plane. I know in real life that pilots opened their own chutes, but they wouldn't wait f9or very long after leaving the plane.

Well if it were randomized 1-3 seconds... you'd hit that bad boy right away! Misjudging by a whole 2 seconds is a looong way in BF falling.
