You know there must be a tread around requesting the same, illustrated with a lot of pictures and reasons why it should be in FH, by me ?

Few SturmTiger were produced, but very little were lost in combat and were used battle after battle untill finally german war industry could not supply enough specialised 380 mm muntions anymore, nor transport these munitions in time to the SturmTigers at the front and many were eventually abandoned running out of ammo in the middle of combat without being able to reload. SturmTigers were in fact highly active in Germany itself and appeared in many battles despite being so few produced, and saw a lot of action when the allies invaded Germany and had to fight bitter over many German important cities and bridges the Germans would not lightly give up yet.

Although it was built as a superheavy assault gun to destroy meters thick concrete bunkers , in the battles mentioned Germans used it as mobile heavy artillery to disrupt enemy advancing troops. It's 380 mm HE variant shell was very good at that, and allies truely feared this weapon.

It was first tested in the Warschaw uprising 1944 and also appeared in the battle of the Bulge.

Some dev(s) saw potential in it and said they maybe considered creating one. I'm sure it is either forgotten or has very low priority. But if we are lucky, eventually maybe it will be in FH.

The last 4 discussions on adding the Sturmtiger ended with most saying yes it would be neat to have in game but there are other more important vehicles that need to be added.

Last two vehicles added to the game should be the Sturmtiger and Maus and then only if someone on FH decides to do one.

Well seeing as how the Sturmtiger was actualy used...and not just some hey theres a myth that this thing faught for the defence of Kummersdorf...I think its priority should be up there. Then we can have fun especialy if it is added to the Nordwind map. I can imagine pixel aiming the American base...firing off a RP HE shell and watching the number of deaths rise.

GocadSturmtiger - rare (around 50 were produced) And on an open battlefield it would be nothing but a sitting duck. After all, it was designed to take out heavily fortfied positions, not tanks.

'[11PzG USMA2010']18.

Meh. :(

Still, this proves my point that they were very rare.

You dont read replies......

They were few in numbers, but they were not lost in battle like tanks.......because they operated behind the front linesand survived every battle they were in, to be used in the next battle and the next.

This meant that a few Sturmtiger were actually present in relative high numbers in each battle and could appear in many battles, contrary to tanks wich were lost in battle and needed a constant high replacement number of them, so higher production numbers.

Tigers, Panthers and King Tigers may have been heavy tanks that could not so easily be destroyed you say, but many sunk in Russian mud, ran out of fuel in battle or broke down in battle......and were abandoned in territory overun by the enemy and lost in combat. That didn't happen to Sturmtigers.

These Sturmtigers were only lost when their munitions could not be delivered to them anymore, and were left abandoned. But this only happened in the last few months when the war was ending anyway.

Actualy most where lost not because of munitions but because they where highly mechanicaly unreliable and burned through fuel like there was no tomorrow. The majority where abandoned because...well if you can't move the 71 ton artillery piece into the proper firing position then you abandon and destroy it. IDK how many shots you think this thing actualy fired. The general rule for operation of a SturmTiger due to its immence muzzle flash from the rocket was that once a single round was fired it was orderd to break down its crane, move to a different location, set up the crane and load another round. This most likely took nearly 2-3 hours accounting for the setup of camoflauge and cover to protect it from air support and to re-construct the crane, check the loading barrel, load a new round and make preparations for firing the round. "Only 18 Sturmtigers were produced, and they did not have any effect on the out-come of the war. In their limited use, Sturmtigers proved to be excellent defensive weapons but were slow and mechanically unreliable, and most were abandoned or destroyed by their crews after mechanical breakdown or because of fuel shortage. Their heavy armor protection forced the enemy to destroy them with heavy artillery bombardment or air attack. In January 1945, a single round from a PzStuMrKp 1001 Sturmtiger reportedly destroyed three American M-4 Sherman tanks located in a targeted village." -Achtung Panzer
