I can see people tanking shots at one another and then healing eachother for points as they wait for the next aircraft to spawn.

Then penaltize excessive team damage.

Hawk_345That is still hard to do and for your ranking idea people will just exploit the ammo giving /healing point system to gain points and rank. there's always a way.

Exuse me.. But are you slow? TIME RANKING! Not ammo and medbag farming... You get rank according if you play sqm sql and comm.

ehh, I agree that killing should be unscored, only taking flags. The reward for doing good things for your team is the in act itself, hehe, and taking the flag is the reason we are playing the map (at least, superficially) so meh. meh, meh, meh, my sugar levels are crashing, so my head is all tilted. meh. Anyways, I think that everyone who acts like a bitch in the game is doing it because of kills and score, either they are terrified of ruining their score by advancing and dying, or obsessed with racking up kills, etc. The way I do it is I look at dying ingame the same way that I look at jumping into a cool lake on a hot day... just jump in and get wet (or ingame: just run out from behind those bushes and get your ass shot off. Every time you take a bullet, its one less bullet that might take out a [more highly skilled] team mate.)

ChanquadI have a better idea! When killing someone, you should get as many points as the one you killed, has killed themselves. So spawnraping wont do any good because you wont get any points, and the bounty will risen on you. So.. if you kill an enemy that has 0 kills, you wil get 0 points, but if you kill an enemy that has 10 kills, youll get 10 points. As for ranking.. Time based ranking! Put it in damnit! It will attrakt so many more people! And the people will play longer to get higher ranks! No way of exploiting. Youll have rank according to how experienced you are with the game.

This probably wont word, because sometimes I shoot the people that have 50+ points, this would set the game extremely off balance and would cause confusion. The time based ranking, what if some persion join in the last 10-15 minutes that was dedicated to teamwork, and there were smacks that were playing the who round! The smacks shouldn't get 1st. Also, what about AFK people?

well yeah, assuming that the point system is the primary influence on the way players act, you would see some really interesting behaviors in that sort of system of scoring [forwarded by chanquad.] --as soon as someone has a killing streak, they suddenly realize that they are more sought aftere by ...head hunters... and, "oh crap, if I die, I loose all of these points, these beautiful, beautiful points!" so they go and hide, while hordes of opposing players go off on a bounty hunting mission.

edited for clarity's sake.

see, the thing is, players are like dogs. You need to train them to do what you want, and how you want them to play the game. The points are like treats that you reward them with to get them to learn (even if the points do absolutly nothing. people will still try to get them).

Which means, if we do it right, we can effectivly turn you bunch of dogs into effective dogs of war.

Points for killing (and probobly added points for killing more important things, and enemy assets), as well as squad/team assist points (your near a guy in your squad/team who gets a kill, you get an assist point), repair, healing, etc etc points, artillery points, cappting flags, blowing up objectives, etc etc. Its a pretty big list.

Players play for points. Thats just how the game works, love it or hate it, it isnt going away. But we can mold them to make them play the game the way its supposed to be played. Like stylie said, most players will end up with several hundred points be the end of the round. Not that it matters, because they dont do anthing.

Also, I don’t want people to try and "win" a game by finding the best camping spot with some powerful vehicle and rake in the kills

... This is a perfectly valid tactic. As far as I'm concearned, there's no such thing as "camping". quit your whining and use your friggin brain to go knock them out. Youl get points for it.

Valid? Yes. Stupid? Yes.

Sitting in one spot shooting stuff is fine as long as your team has nowhere else to go, but sitting in a hole with a kingtiger at the southern bridge on the bulge for example, shooting shermans and infantry that crosses the bridge is hardly going to help your team overcome the allied defences, but it WILL get you alot of points.

Dont asume too much, ask for clarification, than flame me.;)

its killing off thier players and tanks, so its helping your team.

oh... and if theyre crossing the bridge, it means thier going to cap that bridge flag.

I dont have to assume, because any way you do it, its pretty valid. Like I said, stop whining, flank him, and stick a bazooka round down his ass.

The thing is - you don't really have to "encourage" anyone to do the killing; it's what it's all about, it's the thrill and survival~when you see an enemy, you try to kill him. I doubt it that removing the killing points would unbalance the game in any way and that everyone would suddenly want to spawn mechanics. Hopefully, it could decrease the number of tankers waiting in base for a tank to spawn, same thing with pilots or snipers - people would choose those classes just for the fun of it or when it's needed.
