The Battlegrounds mod for Half life has a scoreboard that only displays your individual score, the total team score and the relative position of your score.
Doing a little math you can see what percentage of your team's score you have, so you get a quick impression of what some of the other players have. (Of course, I never played that mod with more than 16 people. When you've got 32, calculating the score of your team mates is getting quite tough.)
I think this would be nice to have for FH2.
I would go for removeing it. It will make players concentrate on more tactical part of battle rather than going alone for some points.
Well occasionally checking your score is pretty harmless (I admit to doing it when I'm in a "race" for the top slot.) As long as it does not affect your gameplay--if you're killing scads of baddies, rambo-ing forward through the streets of Berlin, you're helping your team anyway.
Is it possible to add this kin d of thing as a server side option? Allowing each server to set it up in their config?
I really don't see what removing the scoreboard would add to the game. Check it if you want to see it and don't check it if you really don't care about your score. If FH2 implements score for medics, repairers and assists, it will do positive conditioning and encourage teamplay. Besides, score whores might be bad (do they even exist?), but chances are that they are very usefull to their team too. Besides, the scoreboard is realistic since pilots and tankers took note of how many targets they destroyed, and some of them were scorewhore too ;)
maybe removing the scoreboard would stop some from just playing for their stats. maybe it would improve teamplay when you just play for win or loose of the map - but maybe it would even stop some people from playing fh (do we really need such players ?!?) -> just an experience from BF2 where people refuse to play on some fine servers because these are no official stats servers....hmmm
nevertheless, i personally would prefer a fh2 without a scoreboard
no dont take it out its the only thing i have to tell me how shit i play
I have thought a lot about how to implement a nice system but have zero solutions how it could be done nicely. Anything I have come up with sofar can be exploited or would require an SDK.
Anzacsas, that is the reason most want to see it go. Individual statistics mean nothing in a team-based game.
Just cuz someone can not see how many kills they have does not mean they will decide to rush the next flag with team mates insted of sitting back and sniping from far away. I always like to see how many kills i get and how many flags i take and i like to check the scoreboard out in between spawn waves to see how other players are doing, like if there is an enemy who has no deaths but like 50 kills i may make it my mission to kill them before the end of the game:D
