I'm sure this has been brought up at some point in the murky past, but I'll post it anyway; I really enjoyed Secret Weapons. However, the mechanics (as with vanilla BF) were lame, and by and large the maps stank. However, I think it'd have a lot of potential.
Given the existence of Alpenfestung, I assume that at least to some degree some of the developers aren't averse to including at least a tiny bit of historical "what if" nonsense--it makes for a nice break.
That said, how about incorporating some of the SW vehicles? There's already the odd flying wing, but things like the T-28, Goblin, Natter, Wasserfall and Calliope would be pretty fun. I know I'll get hit with flying shoes, but this sort of thing would be a perfect environment to try the really silly things like jet packs and the maus.
Regarding the maps, some of the SW ones had some potential, even if they were very slapdash in the EA release--especially some fixed variant of the high hills/mountains from Berchtesgaden would be neat. I also really really liked objectivemode and think it'd be a fantastic addition to FH (for example, capturing the Reichstag or storming Corregidor for the win).
Last but not least, the main thing I really miss from SW is the motorcycles--is anyone working on modelling bikes with sidecars? Those were great.
I know it's a realism mod, but it doesn't always have to be totally faithful to history, does it? 8)
whel one ting the devs have mede clear is that no superhevy tanks like T-28 and Maus is gonne bee in the mod.

Yeah, I know, and it's a good policy. However, I was more suggesting having 1-2 maps as sort of a "fun outlet"--superheavy tanks have no place in "normal" maps, just as jet fighters do not. However, in a pure "secret weapons"-type environment it might work without making the game unplayable.
Sherman Calliope was not a secret weapon or really special for that matter, so it should be included. Goblin was not ww2. The allied flying wing was not ww2. Natter, why bother with it when we already have the komet and the go229. No, the only other rocket/jet should be the Salamander/Volksjäger, possibly the British jet fighter, and the Japanese Me262. Wasserfall never left the drawing board irrc. T-28 was never used iirc. Maus might have seen action, but as far as I'm concerned it would be the absolute last thing to include.
Motorcycles would make a great addition to the mod, especially in the early maps. One other suggestion is we add the most commonly used, most effective, most heavily armored and armed, and probably best allround vehicle of the Japanese Army: .............the bycicle:0wned:
Hehe, not only the Japanese had bycycles, but I'll agree that it must have been their best vehicle. Now, I liked some things of SW, the objective mode was quite interesting, but with the exception of the Sherman-T34 Calliope, the Schwimmwagen and the Sidecar Motorcycles, I don't think I'd like to see any of the vehicles it had being in FH. Some of the weapons were interesting too, but all the ones worth it, already are in FH, and believe me, before seeing a jetpack, I'd prefer that weird curved-shot rifle the germans had.

Well, you've already got the Brummbaer, flying wing jets, and an attack helicopter that I can't remember ever reading about being used. They're sneaking up on you!
Sherman Calliope sounds good. Then we already have the German flying wing (Go Horten 229), two other German fighter jets, a German jet bomber, a crappy (hidden) flying saucer and some other fun stuff. :) Goblin was my favourite vehicle in Secret Weapons. And Hellendoorn my favourite map. Then again, the Wasserfall might be fun. That's why it's called ''Secret'' weapons, it never left the drawing borad. ;) I agree.

Hehe, the Brummbaer isn't the same as the Sturmtiger :D . And the Flying Wing and the Helicopter are only in Alpenfestung, and since we even have an UFO there, I don't think they're too bad, as long as they remain there, which wouldn't be the case with the stupid 13-shot, 10 minute-reloading Sturmtigers, that actually saw combat in like three different places, and would have a lot of people asking for them to be in more maps because of those few combats. Could be fun however, to see V-1s or V-2s, if they ever had another use than just cowardly attacking civilians. But this might be just my entertaining Wasserfall memories speaking for me.
I think a Peenumunde type map (yes that spelling sucks) would be an interesting idea. It could be arial objective based, allied bombers having to blow up V-2 sites, and having artillery-like V-1's that the Germans can fire to blow up the allied carriers or airfields.
