This is a suggestion to slow down the infantry by 0.7 or 0.66 by 20-25%. Reason being, if you cannot improve the speed of most tanks due to engine problems, you can slow down infantry. The current tanks travel at around 12km/h (Pz4) to 8km/h (MatII) all the way to 30km/h (Puma) judging by the running speed of a man. I dont even want to begin to comment on how slow this makes the planes. What we need to figure out right now before we advance any further is the proper ratio of speeds and what the should be. The fastest plane should travel max. The infantry should travel the lowest. Everything else should follow a proper speed ratio in between. I realize that there are many vehicles that would have to be edited to have this work in a sound fashion, but I belive that this was the point of 0.63, fixing bugs. If there is to be a patch before 0.7, and were not counting 0.66, so lets say 0.67, than that patch has to fix up speeding. I am more than willing to help out on this to get you guys the proper ratio's of things. I dont even want to test out if they work, I'll leave that too you... All I want is for infantry not to be able to follow my tank that travels at 12km/h, and a plane to somehow keep up with a tank thats moving at 40km/h.
Oh and, if this is fixed in 0.65 (but I dubt it is), than I appologize for dubting your knowledge, and I appologize againg for just dubting again. But c'mon, lets fix the speed, proper speed is good! Realism, lets not forget our objective!
I agree. Infantry move silly-fast. Find the fastest vehicle and set that to max BF engine speed and everything scale off of that. It's rediculous that I can walk across a huge piece of real estate in such a small amount of time. It makes getting transport often less needed. I know this might create issues for people who are used to superhuman speed, but slowing down infantry and other units would increase tension and strategy and teamwork. Elements that make FH fun.
It would be stupid te let the planes fly at max speed. Because you would only need about 2 second to fly over a map. I don't know if it such a good idea because it would look a bit stupid if you gaine speeds with a tiger as fast as the puma at the moment is. The maps should be a little bigger if this is applied. But to make infantry slower is a good idea. Maybe the apc's would be used more then.
You should make it like Red Orchestra were the infantry walks and dont run all the time. And maybe implant a sprint function (has been brougth up before, I KNOW!!)

Swap around the shift key button thing. So u walk normally and run like we do now when we hold shift, but give em the same amount time before u get stuffed. Add some neat effects or something.
wouldnt work ... then you would have to hold downwoth the W key and shift key ot walk normally and wth would pepole do that thne they just can switch back and run around all of the time ..
I think this is a bad idea.
Battlegroup 42 has more realistic tank speed vs. Infantrie Speed, but it makes game-play suck. It dosn´t make you feel like driving an awesome machine of war if your speeding down the highway. It also ruins game-play if tanks are so fast.
I also think Infantrie has a good speed-rate to suit most maps. Its not exactly sprinting and also not to slow. Its a good speed rate if you think how large most BF maps are.
The only thing I´d support is if tanks could drive 20-30% faster on roads. But this only seems to work with wheeled vehicles.
Ugh dude, you cant run cross country speed of a Pz4D carring a MG42, or a Satchel Charge. Kar98 and all the ammo will weigh you down alone.
Have you ever sprinted 500 meters with 40 pounds of shit on you (Uniform and all)? Ill tell you this, you aint going to get far.
Decrease the Infantry speed by 25%. Keep tanks the same. Increase Plane speeds by 25%
Although I don't like this Idea (I think planes are fast enough and I don'T want to spent 20 minutes to go from one flag to the other) it would force the better usage of transport vehicles such as trucks and halftracks and to cover them.
