(if you want you can skip this and go to the suggestion below) In a remote region of the desert, far from the roaring artillery barrages and the relentless anti-aircraft fire lies a small Afrika korps outpost. Although small, it is the site of a few barrels of priceless water, gasoline and most importantly, a repair shop for Rommels armoured thrusts into the british empires desert holdings. it is here that mechanics work tirelessly, to cannibalize some tanks to bring others back to life. Suddenly in the distance, probing honeys approach. At first to the honeys, it looks unguarded, an easy prize. Suddenly 32 soldats with anti tank weapons storm out of the small building, swarm the tanks and destroy them. (suggestion) likely scenario? I dont think so. Why not limit the number of spawns at smaller bases. smaller less valuable flags should have spawn limits i.e only 20 spawns per 5 mins. Or I suppose no spawns at all (which we have) Afterall, the desert campaign was all about long distance combat. People would value "their spawn" alot more if they were faced with longer distances to combat.

To be honest I dont like limited spawns, I like to spawn and get into the action immediately. Walking for 15 minutes across a map just to get to the action is no fun.

I could see variants of this being pretty cool--for example, commanders being able to lay down limited spawn points, or having mobile spawns (trucks?) that can allow x dudes to spawn.

Limit "spawn" points and put in some more mobile "spawn points" such as trucks and troop planes.

Especially since this discourages infantry combat, wich I fear will be all too rare in the desert due to long distances. Having more spawnpoints, ironically, can have the same effect (because it disperces enemy and friendly forces) with the benefit of cutting walk distance.

Actually it is a pretty cool idea imo. It would be hard to balance the limited spawns, though. It should be some sort of proportional amount of spawns to the ticket ratio or round time. This would simulate decreasing resources!

Or you could move the spawn on that flag behind a little hill 100m away. Then it will appear as reinforcments just got there, not magically appering in the repairstation.

A agree with having more mobile spawn points, etc, but I think the easiest solution is just to have the right balance of pickup kits vs. spawn kits. Then, even though 15 soldiers might be able to spawn into a flag, only 1 or 2 of them would be able to pick up AT kits at the flag leaving the rest to either run and hide or be unceremoniously mowed down by the approaching tanks. Since this is what I'll bet the devs are doing anyways, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Or- we could just make it so that you can only spawn at major (cities/points), and everywhere else is just a cappable flag, with no possibility of being spawned at. For those, we should have mobile spawns (trucks, maybe even the not-so-common infantry drop over head)

Good idea. Answers the question "where did those soldiers come from"?

Barracks? Fine. Out of an airplane hangar, woodshed, or windmill without any bedding or lodging features? Not fine.

If a control point is near the map's edge and does not feature a barracks or other kinds of living quarters, "spawn" the soldiers at the edge of the map. If the "spawn" point is too far from the center and has no living quarters, don't make it a "spawn" point.

Of course, the "on the map's edge"-"spawning" would have to be balanced as much as the regular "spawning" at the control point.

And yes, more mobile "spawns". I want to be useful in my truck:smokin:!
