Enemy at the Gates had great atmosphere, art direction and special effects, but it was basically a fairy tale treatment of the real events. Nice official effects demo video of some of the effects shots from the movie, with music by Propellerhead and Shirley Bassey, is available in several formats on this page: http://www.archive.org/details/EnemyAtT2001 It premiered at Siggraph iin 2001 (the demo, not EATG) and is a fun little highlight reel of the movie's effects. As a whole Enemy at the Gates was big disappointment, IMO. RE: the flag idea, I think you have gone off the deep end--at least as far as the extra stamina and kill radius part goes. :)
The dude with the metal teeth was awesome. He was also Hellboy, right? Side note. How come everytime I get into B.O.S. its like 10 minutes in and no ones capped the flag yet?!?! Let me give you guys a little insight. One elder to the greenhorns... Here is what you do young boys. You get in a boat make sure you are the "Cap'n", otherwise your driver will steer you right or left. Get a boat full of expendable russians and head straight at the flag. Right before you get to the flag hit e and go prone, coasting in. Your comrades are dead except the few that were able to jump. Except for you, hiding in the dead bodies, still in the boat capping the flag. The MG's will have moved on to tastier targets and the flag will be yours in a moment. Works 90% of the time. Seriously every time I play it I cap the flag. You can give me a cookie, 5 minutes with the fun ball or some alone time with the giant popcorn ball for this tidbit, brought to you by stylie, dropping knowledge since God was a boy.
So thats what happened in yesterday or the day before yesterday's game of stalingrand, boy that was a quick game...
Yep, that was the Hellboy guy.
It could work, in theory, but the rest of it would have to be accurate also. Such as: 32 Germans with a spawn time 3x of the 64 Russian spawn time. But that would add even more complexity to an unrealistic idea.
As long as it's historically correct, and as long as there's a way to keep the players without guns from stalling (play the Galactic Conquest map ISD Judicator and you'll see what I mean:rolleyes:), then no problem. I'm not sure how it'd be done, but I'm sure it could be made fun.
What I've always wanted in an FPS is a flag-bearer. How it'd work, I'm less sure. Maybe you'd need a flag-bearer to capture flags, in addition to them being stats-improving?

Ya, and I mentioned before that it would be pretty cool implemented into a Reichstag "Raise the Flag" objective map.
IcarianVXYep, that was the Hellboy guy.
Not only that - he also gave his voice to the narrator in Fallout games! :bows:
BourkeyI think the lebanese kebab and thai is the most Australian meal ever, even before the pie, but thats just a drunk talking
SACRILEGE!! Nah, a kebab now and then is good.
My young padawan: you being aussie i know you are already a big drinker, but when you start hitting the pubs and clubs and leaving after midnight, you'll find you get the munchies, and only ever are kebab shops open. One day God woke up and just decided it. Back on topic - I think the flag could be an easter egg. It would be a pickup kit with a MG or something, but like the noobstick, its a secondary weapon. Not a bad idea Player [FlagPwns] Player 2
Flag bearer: BAD. Looks cool in CoD, but BF is different. In BF you play this map for 30 mins and you play it lots of times in your life. You actually get BORED and no-one will want to carry that damn flag never again. Waste of time. Grab your weapon before getting into combat: exactly the same as above. It's nice if you do it once. But in BF you will have to do it hundreds of times, it will be just annoying. IMO, the current Stalingrad map is CRAP. I would do it all over again, I just don't because FH2 is very close. It doesn't need these stuff to increase atmoshpere. Also I find very weird mappers didn't give stukas to the germans and katyushas to the russians. Experience WW2 mod had the best Stalingrad map. Yet it can be improved, it was a very well scaled map, distances between things was right. Even with very few static objects and no sound ambience, the map had a lot of atmophere.
