ok i have i idea for squads and how this might help team play. (don't know if this has already been posted but here it goes anyways) So we all know there will be squads like in the old (bad) bf 2 and that there probably will be some sort of system to get people in to squads. But it ends there sure the squad leader can issue commands like attack and guard an certain point. But why stop there.

First don't let squads be something only for infantery. You could have a squad of tanks, say 3 tanks of wich there is one squad leader who can issue the same commands like attack, guard etc.

also for planes this would be useful say 2 stuka and a 109 or 3 torpedo planes, or 2 dornier 17 supporting each other.

Why would this be good: -first of all communication bf 2 is designed for VOIP between squad members (and commander...) - formations this would be handy for stuka pilots teaming up for example the formation "line" for 3 stuka's (if they ever put some many stuka in one map ) all the stuka fly behind each other with 400m apart so 2 one can see what the first one is attacking etc. -coordination would be much better and easier for the commander -...

Also the commands a squad leader would have should be enhanced like a support command for supporting a infy, or tanks -> the team members would team up in stead of attacking one team after the other - the command defence or attaking should be enhanced so its not as blunt as it is now (attack this point) instead you could have a pincer movement,... now how this will be implemented in the game i don't know (because not everybody has a radio like in bf 2) i was thinking the squadleader can call all his man to him and than hand over automatically a sketch of the attack plan he has drawn on his minimap. So same as in bf 2 you get your orders simply move here, attack here, defend. But then the squadleader can (while on the move ?) draw up a plan, cal his men together and present the plan. I think this would be handy when you have to defend a flag the squad leader can give orders much easier as to locations, firing sectors Or just for giving some orders what has to be done in general for the defence man the AT, mine here,...

Another idea is that when someone wants to create a squad he can chose what role this squad has in general (depends on the commander). So you , the soldier can see in the squad menu witch squads there are and what (in general) they are going to do. For example you chose to be a panzergrenadier squad-> supporting tanks. Or a paratrooper squad Or a AT squad, Or a panzer squad, ....

One of the coolest features i find of bf 2 is the VOIP. So please :bows: use this to its full capacity. This implies only for soldiers (or a squad) with a radio pack (one side note, not that important, don't give radio's only to snipers or officers because i don't think these were the only ones using them) -It would be handy that squad leaders can be able to call in air, artillery, tank, infy,... support and that this automatically appears on the minimap. BUT only for people that have radio's so it's much easier to check your map and see were to shoot, move to. -I also was thinking of a new system for using radio's when you pull up you r map (map in bf 2 for issuing orders) you see blue dots these represent the location of radio's (also in tanks, airplanes and radio's at static positions, bases) then you can click one (or more) and then you can talk to them via VOIP. Putting the map away will automatically shut you mike down.

Another cool feaure would be that in your main base there would be a command tent, bunker, building, ... were everybody can see the battle plan of the commander. Maybe you can also go spie the enemy:naughty:

One more thing i just come up with for making coordinating a bit easier make it so that all the squadleaders (maybe only the infy ones) can see what the other squadleaders are doing, wich attack point did they chose Only for squads that have radio's of course. This would be nice if your commander is not doing its job wel and you want to take the initiative.

Thats it for now, please give your thoughts (constructive please)

Agreed.

Well, lets hope that the maps will be alot larger, that alone would improve FH2 alot, if you ask me.

Another idea is that when someone wants to create a squad he can chose what role this squad has in general (depends on the commander). Would be nice, but im not sure if this is possible, though.

Im sure the devs will do this. :)

(one side note, not that important, don't give radio's only to snipers or officers because i don't think these were the only ones using them)

Actually snipers and for that matter officers didnt use radio's at all. Infact, most of the times only Tornisterfunktrupps (squads with backpack radio's) where issued radio's.

Yeah, but IMO you have to pretty close to the radio in order to so though (with the exception ofcourse for vehicles, excluding vehicles that didnt receive receive radio's.)

Another cool feaure would be that in your main base there would be a command tent, bunker, building, ... were everybody can see the battle plan of the commander. Maybe you can also go spie the enemy:naughty:

I suggested something like this alittle while ago. Sadly enough it was too complex. Spying on the other hand is a big no-no if you ask me. Not really realistic. On the other hand i wouldnt mind seeing special command vehicles for commanders. And squad leaders, ofcourse.

Nice.

The only people that used radios in WW2 were scout snipers and radio men in a platoon. Officers never carried radios, in regards to this idea. I am not going to bash it, but I don't like it either.

Here are my reasons for that: WW2, they had no minimaps coordinating attack locations that is only used in modern combat with GPS.

I think you should take out the attack locaters on the mini map, keep the squads but when a SL commends a attack on a location it will give attack cordinates which the infantry would have to take out there maps by pressing "M" and find the coordinates.

lets not discuss who's got a radio in WW2

as for radio command my idea is the squad leader has a radio (lets just make it easy for now) the commander gives an order to the squad leader THAN the squad leader gives the order to his team mates. But just like in my first post when you spot something or you want arty on a location that should appear on the map BUT only for people that have a radio (especially the ones in planes and tanks). this would make sence because you can spot the exact location for everybody who has a radio.

What do you mean by "tank squads"? I can't see why you couldn't have tank squads in vanilla BF2, or plane squads for that matter. You just jump in a plane and tell your teammates to do so also, there's your plane squad! And (IIRC) you can have custom squadnames, so just name your squad "plane squad 1" or something so everyone knows what it is. I don't see why these should be modified as they allready included, propably as well as they can be done!

Yes you are right you can make these things with the existing bf2 game. But i think this will only happen in clan battles. It should be something simple, something to promote players to form a tank squad. The same with naming your squad. Do you think that al players will be doing this? Maybe in a clan battle bottom line its just an idea to promote teamplay and not hand it over entirely to the player (you have to give him persuade him in doing so)
