Can we PLEASE have a Stalingrad map that captures the intensity that so many movies and games have given it? I absolutely loved the Call of Duty Stalingrad level, and I was stunned by the movie Enemy at the Gates. A major enlargement of the map would be great to start with, and more static defenses such as concrete bunkers and trenches. More vehicles like civilian cars and an APC or 2 would help. No tanks though. Stalingrad WAS primarily an infantry battle after all. Also, a longer river crossing to prevent simply swimming across and replacing the numerous small boats with a single large ferry boat would be vastly appreciated. And if anyone says the words historical accuracy, I am going to hurt you:mad:. The mod is already insanely accurate, and a handful of changes to an map that is so annoying that no one will play it wouldnt hurt anything.

The current Stalingrad map, which features the crossing of the Volga, is fine in my opinion. There's another Stalingrad map coming in 0.7, this time featuring the intense house-to-house room-to-room urban fighting.

The current volga one imo isn't up to the quality standard of FH maps anymore, it's a good place holder, but we know that the FH team could make a better one if they wanted to, but it all comes down to whether they feel it's worth making a new one.

Now that I think about it, I haven't seen the old Volga crossing Stalingard for a while, all the servers seem to be playing the old ugly Dice Version.

Enemy at the Gates arent realistic, but you probarly knew that already! ;)

Better rape for the Germans?

More vehicles like civilian cars and an APC or 2 would help. No tanks though. Stalingrad WAS primarily an infantry battle after all.

Ditto. Cars would look cool, altough I dont know how common cars was for the normal Soviet worker.

Also, a longer river crossing to prevent simply swimming across and replacing the numerous small boats with a single large ferry boat would be vastly appreciated.

Is the river short enough to swim over as it is now? Is the small boats will be replaced with a large ferry, it could be even simplier for the Germans in preparing their defences, and rape the Russians even more.

And if anyone says the words historical accuracy, I am going to hurt you:mad:. The mod is already insanely accurate, and a handful of changes to an map that is so annoying that no one will play it wouldnt hurt anything.

FH isnt insanely accurate in all aspects, but I may agree with you. In some cases gameplay has to come first, but in no way all cases, like having the M10 equal with the Tiger... But I dont agree with your changes on Stalingrad.:)

There is no battle more deserving of a great map than Stalingrad. The two we have now are an insult. What the Russians went through to win and all the casualties they took are hard to comprehend. Historically I do not think that there ever was a battle that had as many casualties as this one. We all know how the Germans lost the entire 6th army but the Russians are estimated to have lost over a million men. The History Channel said that even today the Russians will not release their casualty figures for fear that the people will feel the cost was too high.

First of all, I would personally like to see the "volga crossing" Stalingrad map replaced. Firstly because its kinda wrong because the Soviets held the ferry station on the main Stalingrad bank throughout the battle, and secondly its pretty much a copy of the CoD level with just as much machineguns but realistic health and accurcy = total rapage in the early stages. Well those are my two cents on this, I WOULD however like a nice house-to-house stalingrad map, just hope it doesn't turn into EA's "Berlin" and "Stalingrad" a la vanilla BF1942. P.S. I really need a graphic and a new avatar, huh?

Well, perhaps in a new version of the map the landing point would be farther away from the closest German flags, allowing the allies to establish positions on the other side of the river. Also, here's another suggestion: Mortars. In real life mortars, along with other artillery guns, had the whole river under constant barrage. They could be placed in battery setups in a position that blinds them to the river, as well as protecting them. This would mean that the only way to get a kill with it would be to either get lucky or get someone to spot.
