Safe Keeper--yeah, but that was probably a modern, electronically controlled vehicle as opposed to a WWII vessel.

I don't know whether delays in FH2 large naval vessels are really such a huge deal, though--while I'd like to see ships move with more realistic slowness, I imagine it'd also be difficult to do this without compromising gameplay. "Hopping in and immediately getting a move on" doesn't seem like such an issue with warships as compared to, say, tanks.

The idea with the "captain on the bridge" sounds hilarious--but wouldn't that get kinda annoying after a while?

Ships move so slow in the first place that you can't just hop in and speed off, so like Fuzzy said, it is pointless to have such a huge delay for ships. but I like the idea of a few seconds delay for starting vehicles. Especially if we don't have animations for entering and exiting(and it sounds like we won't)

Also an exit delay should be implemented to keep people from bailing right before that last killing round hits. Or another idea to ward off bailers.

In Oblivion(WTF? Oblivion? Thats not even a war game!!) when you are in combat with someone or something you can't use the fast travel feature(fast travel is basically you click on the map of the country and you are moved to the place you clicked) Could it be set in FH2 so that if you are currently in combat with someone you can't bail.

Safe KeeperThis big passenger ship I was on once had to stop its engines while underway (probably because of another large vessel that presumably had the right-of-way). It took it only a second to get them running again. Far from a full minute.

Another idea from Warp is to have a random "Captain on the bridge" wave file play when you enter position 1.

Well it probably was prepared (warmed up, all systems online) for a startup. I doubt they could fire it up in one second in the morning preparing it for it's first yourney of the day.

I agree with the second point, there should be an exit delay for the vehicles you cant just jump out of. Tanks, apc's, planes. :nodding:

Absolutely. Exit delay would go a great way to kill bailing, but to balance things out, it shouldn't be made too long until someone figures out how to do component-specific damage in planes and tanks (i.e. allowing you to crash-land a burning and powerless but still somewhat controllable planes.)

OH! I JUST GOT A AWESOME IDEA! What if (operation barabossa) for later uses not in the first fh2 release, but you could skid out in the mud and jeeps and vehicles would start up cause

I heard in the battle of stalingrad that the germans would keep their tanks running over night. In fear that they would not start in the morning.

Well, having some frozen pIII's around on sertain maps certainly wouldnt hurt the atmosphere, if people could still use them as bunkers (slower turret movement of course)
