First of all, this is a great mod, but there are things that might need some reconsidering. The one thing that comes to my mind is the "graphical identity" of the mod. Some of the custom content in the menues and the user interface seems out of place and totally wrong. Ex1: The new capture icon is great, but it does not match the ammo and healt icons that appear in the same place. The fonts used differ greatly. Some are original clean fonts from vanilla BF, the fonts on the vehiclenames are red letters, yet another font is used in the loadscreens of the game and a fourth is found on the ammo, health and capture icons. Basic design law says - the fewere fonts, the better. As for the loadscreens, you should really try one concept, either use real photos or go with the ingame map photos. The mix isn't good. All in all, these things give away the mod as created by amateurs. I think you could really get a boost and get a more serious feel to your work if you tried to shape up these things so that all graphical ingredienses follows the same theme.

I'll tell you what. You worry about graphic identity while we're all out playing the best kick ass mod available.

The only thing that buge me is the red text showing the behicle name. This just seems too BG-ish to me. Although I think it would look much better it it was black.

I think the guy is right in a sense. It looks kinda "thrown together" when Berlin's loading screen is a low quality 3D render of something not in the map, and some maps have nothing but photographs, and then some just have mock photos of in-game shots of a Russian standing next to a T34, or just in-game shots, and then some like Foy or Orel have artwork? I like the real photographs the best, as well as the propaganda posters. The Pacific theatre maps, like Wake, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima have real photos, coupled with the Imperial Japanese Navy flag, and look just plain awesome. Then we move to Orel, which has drawn soldiers and mock-photos of in-game pictures. Really doesn't look as good by comparison. While the black bars of the loading screen remain distinct, I this mod should stick to an even more particular formula, and since it is also a realism mod, it should use real photos and posters. And the less fonts used the better. Yeah.

FYI D-fens, I'm not a dev on Three Crowns. I sometimes give feedback to one of the dev's but that's it. I was thinking of getting on the 3 crowns, but decided to stay out. One of the main reasons why is that the concept vision (which I'm talking about here) doesn't match mine). Let me futher my thoughts here - this is not something unique to FH, in fact the majority of the mods wrestle with this problem. As I have worked a while in advertising, done graphical designs for one of Swedens larger online-stores, an intranet solution for Swedens largest food chain stores I'm coming from a professional angle here. I just want to give feedback to a very great mod and tell them what I think is missing or could be done even better. It also saddens me to see posts such as D-fens here, which adds nothing to the discussion. If you can't muster a comment, either with or against what I'm trying to bring into focus in this thread, you might as well stay out of it. Your post is utterly useless.

You are so right here zara5ustra, and the effort to make it right is not all that great, it just takes planning.

Ok, let's stop the arguing and get back to the suggestions, or this thread will be locked.

Now I think professionalism is important because 1) it shows cohesiveness 2)it adds an extra sense of depth and of course 3) it looks nice.

Now on a scale from 1-10 I'd give this a 2 priority. There are a lot of other immediate bugs and issues to be taken care of before menus and class icons are dealt with.

At BFE we are making our own loading screens for custom edited maps and I think they add a nice blend of photographs, in game shots, and cool paraphanelia.

I think FH should definitely give a short historical background to each...or just put in those cool propaganda photos. A lot of people have no idea what each battle is about when they see the loading screen for it. Besides, gives the player something to do (maybe study a map on the screen) while he loads up the game.
