I was just wondering if there's any plans to make a better version of the StuG III B model, as well as the skin? Now it's so toy-like with a lame skin I don't think this gets requested much, since most seem to consider the B total crap, but I'd like to see a better implementation of it.
And I have an image that at least in .61 it wasn't able to shoot low enough, like the G had that problem - I'm not sure if .65 changed B in that regard too? It actually needs to be able to fire quite a bit closer than the G, since B has -10 degrees angle at maximum compared to -6 of the G. This would also make it more useful in-game I think. From what little I've used of the B in .65, it doesn't seem to shoot noticeably shorter than the G.
What maps is it on now actually anyway? Fired up El Alamein, Kharkov and Valirisk, maps that used to have it, up on a local game, weren't there on the start - spawns with more flags?. In any case I did drive a B in Valirisk in .65 recently unless I'm totally mistaken. In any case it DOES deserve to be on early war maps such as Kharkov and El Alamein / Supercharge. Even if just one, for silly fools like me who'd like to use it :uhoh:
actualy i looked into kitbashing new variants of the stug only problem was, the only variants in which there were differences that you code code in game were the B and G and the devs have those taken care of
Tvih, there is one on Valirisk but that's all I can think of. I dont think it's on any other maps. The StuG3B does suffer from a 'toy' type skin, it's low detailed and the color is bleached. In some cases insignias on the hull are blurred out, the Panzer II is exactly the same.
I think the stug III B suffers from lack of detail on the model. All the detail seems to be in the skin which makes the model flat and boring.
also, the stugs should basically be tractors - i have hardly seen any picture where they haven't stowed half an elephant back there......

I thought that the StuG IIIB was quite possibly, the least historically accurate vehicle in the mod, it looks/still looks rubbish, as soon as i saw the dice Pz.IV chassis and the drivers vision slit on the wrong side, it became obvious that in needed to be completely redone.
I always remember the time i was playing El Alamein on FHX 0.6, getting in a StuG IIIB, driving all the way across the map, only to be bombed by a B-25, i hadn't even fired a single shot, and when i respawned there wasn't a single vehicle in the German main base. Ahh memories.

Eh? I just said it was better in the B. But not by 2, instead by 4 degrees
Anyways, the model itself seems totally undetailed. StuGs indeed always seemed to have lots of stuff on them. The skin is like painted with water colors, adding to the "boringness" of the vehicle. I really like the look of the real early StuGs, but in-game, it's lacking

If we can get it up to scratch with the detailed Jagdpanzer IV, then I might actually try the thing out for once.
Good luck killing anything with it, its basicly a non-turret short barrel p4 with less armor and without MG's.
Tried it out a few times, its pretty much a death trap. Other tanks eat it, infantry just walks around it while you nervously try to turn and cap those satchel tossin, zooka totin mofo's.
