I just finished a game of Bardia in which the primary strategy of the opposing team was prone-spamming with the mg34. They would zoom in while they were falling prone and killing entire squads. As I understand it, machine guns were never meant to be used at close range. For that reason, I would like to request that a 2 second delay to use the iron sights and a 1 second delay to fire be instated in order to simulate the process of the solder going prone and getting in the right position with the MG-34.

The Bren gun represents another problem. No matter what I am doing, it seems to have zero deviation. I can be strafing, turning a corner, or walking and the bullets will always hit their target. The Bren guns is far more effective as a sub machine gun than the sub machine gun is. I understand that the Bren gun was somewhat lighter than the MG-34 and that it was meant to be able to fire from standing, but the deviation when moving is way too little right now. However, I have experienced few people taking advantage of this, besides myself. Yesterday, I went on a 16 point kill streak(without any deaths), using the Bren gun without using the iron sight once. I also think that all machine guns should have a higher deviation when moving so that they take slightly longer to become accurate. After all, it takes someone much less time to steady a huge machine gun than a rifle. I faced at least 8 Germans using submachine guns, and that brings me to my next issue...

I would also like to request that the sub-machine guns, particularly the Thompson, receive a decrease in deviation when standing, moving and particularly when crouched. They might also receive a decrease in recoil. As I have said before, I have found the rifle a weapon far superior to the sub machine gun in almost every instance. Remember, I am not asking for an increase in the accuracy of the sub machine gun. I have found the Thompson to be useless, in that it is impossible to kill anything at medium to long ranges and extremely difficult to kill anything at close range. The Thompson should be very inaccurate out past 50 meters, but inside that it should be more effective than just about every weapon. It should have less deviation when moving and the deviation should decrease at a faster rate than the rifles of machine guns. This is simply a matter of common sense.

I thank you for the excellent mod, and I trust that you will make the right decision.

Just one good suggestion in your request but unfortunately there is no solution against players proning to shoot.

I am sorry but you must train more with that tommygun, the people used to their new code are using it very effectively. And for n time, the code of all smg's is almost cloned, tommygun = mp40

Which suggestion was my one good one?

It's the combination of the recoil and the deviation that make the tommy gun suck. It isn't as noticeable with the MP-40 because it has less recoil. It's just that, later, when rifles like the m1 Garand and G-43 are available, the smgs are going to be a joke. I've fired a smg and it's recoil was no where near the thompson's. Granted, it was not a wwii smg, but you'd think that the weight of the Thompson might decrease the recol. Oh well, I guess I should just stick with rifles.

Really, it doesn't suck, you are just used to the overpowered smg's of 2.0 and miss those good times.

Train, use the ironsight, shoot in short bursts and learn when you must shoot or when you must run and flank to reach a good position to be successful with smg's. In 2.1 they are way more like the real thing, the rifles are the queens of long and middle distance and smg's the close quarters weapon, as must be. The first days we tested the new code I didn't hit crap with them, now I love them.

I can't imagine ever being good enough with the Thompson to consider it a practical weapon, but I'll keep practicing. I'll let you know if I ever get it down.

Thank you for responding. :)

with enough practice and some luck, you should be able to gun down a whole enemy squad easily in close quarters...

I still find the Beretta 1938A to be a the monstrous destructor of all enemies at close-range.

I have some problems with the 1928 Thompson and MP40, but I'm beginning to get the hang of them.

Not that I ever use any of those guns much, since I'm almost always a rifleman.

I've been sniping with the Mp40 :P Love it. The thompson, I'm still practicing with, and it's iffy :P I'm getting better, sometimes I can take em out with 2 short bursts of three shots. Close quarters, dont even bother to look down the side just side step and spray baby :P But then there are the times where I quite literally look down the sight, and aim very well at a guy and paint an outline around him and he turns around and shoots me :P Should of just ran at him heh

Sniping with AT-rifle ftw! but seriously, it really sucks when you try to shoot at long range and have rifle but then the tide of battle turns and you're facing loads of enemies at close range. Or, if you have mp40/tommygun and you're prepared for close quarter combat but you're forced into long range combat instead.
