I think that FH2 should incorporate subs, that you can actually climb on and go into a hatch on the serface, and than beable to roam through the sub with gun in hand. instead of just having subs be comanded by 1 person, maybe even be able to make a 88 on the bow of a U-boat, or an mg. i know its possible in the engine seeing that they made a map in sf called irongator wich is al about being inside a carrier, so why not have a sub with maybe 1 to 2 decks where people could walk around and maybe wait for sub to surface near shore and then jump out and attack, be great for bring 10-20 people to shore on Mid way secretly. or maybe you could place bomvbs inside and blow them up once enemy takes it. just an idea.
first off: no submarine i know of has ever been armed with an 88. this suggestion would require huge ammounts of coading for something that has no real purpose other than asthetics. subs should be able to be piloted by one person ingame. this simulates several people working as one on a real sub.
so why not have several people working as one ingame? because nobody that i know of (certainly not 2 or 3) in the FH community is experienced in working with WWII submarines in combat.
well i did not know exactly what gun the german subs had so i mentioned that, and i did not say that more than 1 person had to work the sub, i meant people could spawn insidea and walk around even while under water, sort of like the transport ships on galipoly in FH map pack 6.
um, Galipolli was a WWI battle.
Yes, it'd be great to have subs that you can enter, so your deck gun crew doesn't drown. And yes, subs with rubber dinghies would be cool for commando raids.
Every time I read one of hawks threads I die a little inside.
Why? He's got some good ideas. Just needs to cut...down...on...sugary....snacks and use punctuation, capitalization, and complete sentences. It's something to work with. The sub thing, well, you see the two threads I posted where some eloquent, intelligent and perceptive individuals (well one at least) posted really well-thought-out, insightful ideas about along the same lines.
The 8.8cm gun was fitted to many German U-boats, later fitted with the 10.5 cm naval gun. While sharing the same diameter as the venerable 88mm gun as found on the Tiger tank and similar, it was in fact a completely different design.
I'm all for having crew positions on a sub, maybe give them something to do while not manning the deck gun or AAA, like sonar operator or something.
Not only the Germans but most Navy's submarines in WW2 mounted a large caliber deck gun. Torpedos were expensive and cannon shells were cheap. Several hits by the waterline were usually enough to sink a merchant ship.

in the current incarnation of the submarine, you play as the commander, so you control everything.
PS submarine sonar operators of the second world war mostly just listened to the sounds in the water with a hydrophone, not veryinteresting job if you ask me.
