No? You don't think there would be more lag if the game had to draw everthing in a 1km radius instead of just a little bit?

Fog reduces lag. Why do you think on the low settings for bf the visibility is set so low?

It wouldn't work in FH. The reason when they sent hundreds of bombers up to kill 1 factory which only needed the 8000lbs of bombs 1 B17 could carry is because precision bombing was crap! You needed 100's of planes to get the job done because it was still in its infancy and dropping bombs from 7,500 meters was a mixture of basic sights, luck and strength in numbers.

Precision bombing was not crap, bombsights were so accurate that they were claimed to be able to "drop a bomb into a pickle jar." Not only that, they send so many up because of the high risk of getting shot down behind enemy lines because of fighters and flak. Not only that, some missions probably had multiple targets.

yes, that was the claim, but that only worked on ranges with NO (or atleast well known) wind, NO enemy fire, NO turbulence, basically, nothing that could possibly throw the aim off, if it really was so acurate, how do you explain that often, even after huge raids, the primary target wasnt even hit? the fact is, bomb sites back then were crap, though later in the war the germans actually had captured some Norden bomb sites, and managed to improve on them.

fog itself doesnt reduce lag, the view distance is what decides what is or isnt drawn, and most mappers have the fog distance equal to the view distance, so buildings fade in rather than awkwardly get drawn in by polygons.
