i was playing around with BF2 and i noticed how things floated up from the water and stuff when you jump in from really high up or fly a plane into the water. so i got to wondering if there was a way to make it so people could swim under the water? of course i think they should only be able to swim under water for 20-25 secs before they start to lose health (like when you reach the edge of the map.).

I don't think it's possible. If it is it will certainly be abused, although it could lead to a few "frog man" commando maps...

i reakon people have to much freedom in water. have you ever tried swimming in full cloathing, army boots, a hemet, a knife or two, your survival gear, a couple of mags of ammo, and a gun. besides many guns and all your ammo would be abit stuffed after being drenched in water (allthough nothing that could not be fixed)

although frogmen maps would be cool, were the used in WW2 asside from those human torpedos that the italians used?

How much WAR can go on under water....And if its FROGMEn, then they wont follow the usaul 15seconds breathing would they? That would be a shooting fest and little else. Ofcourse, I suppose a map with sumerging would be something else... That could still be done... If the frogmen use a gear, then that could allow them to act like mini subs and go under water. But whether you'll see anything is under story.

But swimming under water in general...aaaI don't know. I mean how often do soldiers go under water, you know? If the engine supported it naturally like Hlaf Life, sure, but to what major purpose should it be added, considering the fact that FH is about your regular joe in war?

The Germans also apparantly used combat divers to blow up four bridges in Poland in 1944 but i cant find any details regarding that. Except that the unit was called "Marine Einsatz Kommando".

They where also used later on in Germany against Russians ships that where operating in rivers.

Keep in mind though, that there where various forms of divers used in WW2. Some where used to clear mines, other for sabotage purposes. Just to name a few things.

Here is a interesting link regarding Italian human torpedoes. Clicky.

I'm 99% sure that engine doesn't support swimming underwater but yeah, it would be awesome.

UDT (Underwater Demolition Teams) was created after the Tarawa debacle where the U.S. lost many troops to drowning in a hole or getting picked off as they tried to trudge over the coral reefs after their LC's got stuck many yards from shore. The U.S.navy immediately started putting together the frogmen to do underwater cartography, beach reconnaissance/sample retrieval of beach material, & the clearing of obstacles both man made & natural. Many a beach was invaded by marines only to find signs placed by UDT the night before. http://www.firstseal.com/ Great book to read.
