As things stand now, when a tank is hit the health bar for that vehicle is reduced, but not for the crew. I think that there should be a small reduction in the health bar for the crew too. Consider a tank that is rivoted together such as the M3 or Czech models, a hit may not be enough to destroy the tank, but the rivots flying around or even the spall of metal could injure if not kill the crew. As things stand, the crew merely hop out, full health bar, and try to get to cover. What do you think?

To a degree--I think it should be random, and only if the tank is damaged more than a certain arbitrary amount (50%?)

Otherwise I like the idea of actually having to get out of a tank, not just 'exit' with 'e'.

hopefully we can code area specific effects for vehicals. Basicly blocks within the tank that affect what happens to it.

so, like

engine = tank stops, engine lights and explodes after a few seconds ammo = big explodey tracks = tank stops crew = player takes damage

I dont think players should take damage, having vehicles end up empty because it was smacked around by a couple of HE rounds might be "realistic" in some ways, but unless the devs plan on having all advanced vehicles locked for the enemy team, its not in the best interest of gameplay, and realism, because you would not want to enter a tank that had massive spalling that caused the crew to die.

What i would like to see however is the return of the BF2 "shellshock" effect when a vehicle is hit by a HE round, or a large AP round that failed to penetrate, in realistic amounts. This would "disable" the crew in some cases, because they cant see.

Well as long as BF2 has a medic, you might as well create a special "clenaup" class or kit in FH2, which comes with a spatula and one of those baggies that you get on airplanes, and if you have too many TKs or your team/squad leader designates you as a smacktard, it's all you could play as, and you'd have to clean out the tank before anyone could use it, otherwise your uniform gets red gak all ov..ok..I really need to go to bed now.

its more like, if an AP round goes through the veiw slits and frags the driver. And we plan on locking advanced vehicals.

Killable crews and locked tanks. Sounds good to me.

McGibs, total PM question here, but is it possible to have vehicles and wreckage despawn without exploding?

if the crew can be killed, then why not make it so the tank can be killed but the crew can have a chance to crawl out of there tank, and hopefully doesnt get picked off by the mg's of the opposing tank. Granted these people should have very low health so they are basically crawling out of the tank and discombobulated.

I like what Mr.Gibs mentioned, it would be fairly realistic that the possibility is there that the crew gets injured (depending on what struck the tank, where and how). Ofcourse Heavy/advanced vehicles would had to be locked for the opposing team though so you don't see allies killing the crew of a German Tiger I/II column and effectivly taking it over to turn them against their former masters. That just wouldn't be realisitic (well unless you would implent the option to clear tanks, train troops etc. taking er. 1-2 hours of time, too bad the battle would be over then). *shrugs*

Perhaps it´s a reason that only "Tankcrews" can get in/drive a Tank so the Tanks don´t have to be locked (tankcrew kits to pick up). Of course there is a little chance to catch an enemy Tank but that makes the game ... "spannend" sorry dont remember the english word :-)
