I think a nice change that would make Tanks abit more fun is moving the camera from ontop of the turret thats used when your not aiming so its inside the hull of the tank (around were the driver sits) and you see through a small rectangular hole like on the german half track and maybe it could be open and closable.

I wouldn't mind seeing through the cupola, or the drivers window, but I think they are trying to portray it as you are the tank commander in his hatch.

Perhaps ctrl could be used to make the player duck into the cupola for protection (if it doesn't do that already, dont remember)

Currently, the camera is actually placed just in front of the cupula on most tanks (those that gave copulas anyways). Though I would love to see it moved to right on the cupola, the problem would be that it would be blocked by the person sitting in that position, meaning the position would have to be deleted.

it would be a good idea to delete it i think...

currently you use the ctrl to use free camera, so if you "duck" you need to use some other keys.

i agree that you should be sitting "inside" and not having that much view when you are in close combats (e.g. against infantry), this would make tanking more challenging.

it would even be better if you could toggle some sort of "binoculars" view when your head pop out of the hatch, currently it's too eye damaging to be starring at a far far away blurred image of a tank....and you have severe fire delay if you go into hatch position and use your binoculars...

P.S. i have severe short-sight problems and i hope the devs work around it. :(

No, it's not representing the view from the commander cupula, it's the view of a rotating periscope

Germans didnt have a rotatable periscopes, they had many periscopes around the hatch.

So those views are all in place of one of the tanks periscopes? But what about tanks that didn't have one or were every tank in WW2 equipped with them. Ohh and I've said this few times in different threads but could you consider making "driver" view to look more like a periscope view? I mean like putting something at the edges of the screen (black borders?).

I wouldnt mind having the view to look like something out of binoculars, scopes or whatever. Even the old FH 0.7 style would be good. I have grown a bit sick to this new style as it just makes flanking a big bitch.
