Ok, the idea is simple, taken from the concept of Wake Island, and it might give people a reason to spot. Create a new "static" object, eighter 4 howitzers, 4 Wespes, 4 Priest's, distance them out by about 1 object distance in between each in a 2 by 2 formation. Add in the middle an ammo dump like creation (so when 1 blows up it makes sence that the cook-off would blow the others), and a real ammo box. Than program them to all move around the same way... That way when you get a spot, you can fire arty, in a real fassion, and create a real barrage. Just like the American quad AA gun on Wake Island. Just dont make the things reload longer than it would take 1 person to normally reload 1 object.

Except, make them fire at different times, not all together, kind of like 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, this is how it was done.

On another note, I was thinking about bots and how you can have them doing certain things, like in CIS how they are doing push ups. Well I was thinking you could have bots manning artillery batteries in your main base or somewhere, and they are doing the firing, reloading etc, it would look really cool. Then on the battlefield you create an object that looks like a shell that falls down and explodes on impact with water/earth or whatever it hits.

Comments?

so they're firing at one spot through out the game?

The quad artillary is a great idea, it's been floating around for a little while. And you're absolutely right about having the, fire with the right timing. If a battery of 4 105mm's fired at 1/4 the speed.. it would be completely useless. Just the the quad AA on Wake, too slow.

And either make it fire 1, 2, 3, 4, or 1/3, 2/4 corner to corner. Man, with that many firing that fast, it could really do some damage, unlike they are now.

Edit: I just saw this in another thread

AceSIll do a twin 105mm for object defense. (objective based maps)

are those 4 40mm bofors aa guns on wake some kind of placeholders for this 3 inch aa? 3inch%20AA%20mount.jpg US Navy 3" AA from 1919. Looks more like the coastal guns According to this site there were no 40mm Bofors guns but twelve 3" guns in quads, 18 .50 cals, 30 .30 cal machine guns for AA defence. The .30 cals were most likely the watercooled (http://www.olive-drab.com/images/firearms_mg_m1917.jpg), the .50 I don't know. http://www.geocities.com/naforts/pacific.html

I've always been for the idea of artillery/AA batteries. I don't really see the purpose in the "bots" manning artillery and statically firing....is there a way to make them zero in on your arty spot? That would really bring bases to life. I doubt it's possible though.

You would have shells falling randomly.

But wouldn't that be kind of pointless? And annoying too in some respects, to be seeing shells falling where nothing is happening and nowhere near the action. And even falling on you sometimes when you're out in the middle of nowhere. I think the battery idea is fine, but random shells/static artillery teams is kind of pointless.
