It would be perfect if the distance of flight was dependable on the power of explosion. I suppose detachable limbs are not possible in bf2 engine and actually there would be some problems with it like how to shoot when both of your hands are gone ;) Also if someone wants ultra realism i suggest stabbing yourself with knife each time you're hit for some "enhanced" gaming experience :p

Edit: oh yeah and ragdoll sucks. Indeed bodies act as dolls rather than human bodies. If FH team finds some way to fix this it will be great.

I killed a guy with my M1 carbine once while in the air after being flung upwards by an explosion of some sort....it was weird I voted yes because i think it should be modified so it doesn't happen with grenades and things, but a 500 kg bomb or artillery shell should throw a body pretty far.

Ok... so you're racing along at full speed in your kubel and you take a direct hit from a tank or some arty. Your kubel is launched into the air as it explodes into heap of burnt wreckage before skidding to a stop. Your once pretty little vehicle has been replaced with a now crispier model of itself at the moment of impact. Now, my question is: Can this be done with the human models or do these work in a way that is completely unrelated to vehicles? What I mean is, when a soldier takes a direct hit, can it be replaced with a similar version of itself, but one where the limbs and torso are not connected to each other? That way, when the rag doll physics take over, it sends the limbs to different heights and in different directions? Or if that’s too extreme, replace the body with one that has shredded clothing and blood stains? I don’t like how everyone wants an extremely realistic game but then they oppose the gore. I don’t like seeing bodies fly through the air fully intact. If something has the force to lift them off their feet, it should also be able to amputate those feet in the process.

Halo 2 mixes death animations and ragdolls, and does a pretty good job too. Also, Halo 2's ragdolls roll realistically, rather than fly like the BF2 ones. Good ragdoll physics are hard on a computer to render, because of all the physics calculations. That's why I imagine BF2 ragdolls are so cheap. They still do the job though, because I'd rather the body reacts to the terrain rather than go rigid and play some stupid animation. Besides, death animations do have a habit of getting old. Ragdolls are always fresh, and they allow for more random moments, like shooting someone off a building. I think that the explosion height (with the exception of arty) is pretty good. A grenade sends someone about 4 feet in the air, and a tank round sends someone about 8 feet in the air. I'm sure the explosion values could be tweaked so thye don't send out so much energy if that's your fancy, but ragdolls are definitely something to be left in.

bah, please keep the bodies as one. Imagine 30 guys spawning on a flag and an arty barrage hitting that flag, you won'T find the flag pole under all those limbs then :/

I think that toren off cloths thing sounds good, if its possible I would vote for that but tone down the way the ragdolls fly around. That "getting knifed and fly 3 feet" thing is too arcadish.

i would like gore as an option, with an on/off switch. with flying body parts, vaporized enemies, massive blood splatters etc. so those who want more nasty realism can have it, while those that dont, can turn it off. o.t. i vote for realistic flying bodies, and not circus highflyers p.s. i like your new sig invincible

Small explosives such as nades, mortar fire etc should simply cause the player to flip over

Big explosions such as artillery fire and aircraft bombs should cause the player to literally, ahem, how do I put it, explode with blood splattering everywhere.

Honestly, If an artillery shell blows up near you there ain't gonna be any you left, you'll literally be blown to smitherines.

With fragmentation grenades a decent effect could be produced with a reduced effect (impact?) on the ragdoll. No flying models from the impact.
