My humble excuses if this was brought up earlier sometime.

Well everybody knows when pressing E you automatic teleport into the desired vehicle. I wondered if it is possible to have a sort of time limit on the "E". Meaning, when you want to enter it would take a few seconds before you are in the vehicle. So when standing near a tank, and you press "E". It takes a few seconds before getting teleported in the tank. And ofcourse the same when you want to bail out of a vehicle. For complex vehicles the time would be somewhat longer.

Reason why: Well theres always a reason so for me theres 1 to. It ads some more realistic feeling for hopping into a tank and to bail out. Cause in yugh: BF2 i really hate when you are taking a tank down and its near its end, and poof.. the driver with is ultimate gun had popped out ,standing next to you and is greasing you to pulp.. I know that tanks and planes will have there own kits, so the ultimate guns will be excluded from them. But still i say jeej to a small delay in getting in a vehicle and bailing out. (if, at all possible)

Any thoughts from you ?

Best Regards Nugget

Agreed, there should be a enter/exit delay on every vehicle, depending on how hard it is to get in/out respectively. I too hate it when people bail when their vehicle is about to die, to then blow away the AT trooper that managed to get himself in a good position to pop the tank.

I'm not entirely sure if it can implemented in the BF2 engine but it would be nice if there was extra animation where you can see yourself climbing into the tank or vehicle your entering which could also double up as the delay time.

Could be fixed by making it so, to enter, you have to jump up to the hatch on top of the tank, then press E. That's if a timelimit can't be put on.

You ever tried to hop onto a Tiger, or KingTiger?

Hmm.. but how would the common person know that they are entering the tank, if not through custom animation?

Take control away from the character? Push the camera to 3rd person view?

Just to keep the idea going.. I like the idea, just wondering how it could be performed so it wouldn't annoy the common unpatiant FH-er..

Okee, then i would suggest (again if possible). To make somesort of loading or entering bar, just like the overheating/health/stamina or whatever bar. Then the user can see what is happening, if he pays attention anyway..

Pretty sure this has been discussed to death before. I'm up for beating the horse some more, though. A better solution than introducing a delay in entering a vehicle is coding in a startup time for all vehicles. The best example of this is the warmup for planes & helicopters in BF2. You get the same result without a frustrating delay when you're wondering if you're actually gaining access to the vehicle or not. Think of what a pain in the ass it would be if you had to walk around to to door of a jeep and wait 5 seconds while a simulated 'open-door-step-inside-put-on-seatbelt-adjust-radio' delay occurs. Half the time you're wonding if you got the driver seat or the other 2 guys trying to get in the vehicle got it. Just a quick 2 second start-up engine sound and you're off is much better. It's the job of other players to be irritating, not the game itself.

Edit : a progress bar to show you entering the vehicle might alleviate my gripes, good idea

You can put a ladder next to it, as there won't be any infantry climbing on top of it during combat.
