the thing is though thateverything else is scaled down so while you could reduce it wouldn't be fair to have totaly realistic tank rotation speed.
Also, because of mouse control the the turret cannot be truned continuouslt around. So the practical rotaion speed for any tank for a large rotaion is less because yhe person has to pause (slide, pick up mouse. slide again).
One way to get around this would be to have the mouse when moved to a extreme change from being direct corelation, to a movement toggle. That way for example if you pushed the mouise to the 'edge' of a screen it would scroll the screen.
This could be used for aircraft too. Right now people withouyt joysticks have to use a mix of a mouse and keyboard. Because in some instance's continuously using the maximum turn rate is required particularly when trying to loose somone on your tail or when pulling up. HOwever, the mouse since it can do incremental rather then bulk (i.e a key press) movenemnts is much better for aiming at another plane or ground target. With a mouse you can match a enemys change turn rate. Wich if you do using the keybord with on and off tapping makes the crosshard bounce. The soultion would be to give the mouse continuous turn rate at the exetremites, but I have no idea if this can be done.
Umm, please, explain to me what the M4A3E2 Jumbo "Easy Eight" is...
There was the M4A3E2 Jumbo, which is in the game now. It had improved armour, and, out of the factory, it still had the 75mm cannon as the M4A3 Sherman.
There was also the M4A3E8 (76W) HVSS, also known as the "Easy Eight". It too featured improved armour, as well as a 76mm cannon. The HVSS refers to the suspension system.
Turret speed should be slowed a little, but not down to XWW2 levels. That was painful.
yea in in practice if you set the turn rate at exactly the same, the practical rate becomes lower, because you cannot continuosly move your mouse.
i think it should be slowed down... only just a bit, but to be honest, it wouldnt bother me if they werent, but them vanilla tanks SUCKED... and also, it is possible to have it like united offensive, so your not dragging your mouse, so the camera moves fast but you wait a second or two for the turret to catch up... personally, i love the way that works
You know what i got one freaking name STFW, Heres the easy was SHERMAN EASY EIGHT.
Realistic turret speed would mean the fastest were about like the Tiger is now. The slower ones would become assaultguns. Keep in mind the fighting distances are way smaller than IRL, that's why turrets have to be faster. As for the Infantry taking out tanks: If you run to a tank, and get shot in the process, you deserve no better. Hide, wait patiently for a good opportunity, and kill the tank from a distance. Everything other than a PFaust30 has plenty of range, allowing you to get a good shot easily enough.
i apologies for my behavior. but i think that the tiger ESPECIALLY the tiger turret should be slowed it suffered form poor turret speed the worst.
xww2 has this its very annoying. AND its not really realistic because the turn rate ends up being significantly lower the in real life beacause you cannot continulsy rotate the turret. If you want to argue a little bit lower turn rate thats one thing (say divide 4 instead of 6) but the actual or real low values are hard to deal with. Once again, the rate falls below even the reall rate becaue the mouse cannot be moved continously. You must pick up and move your mouse up many many time even to do a quarter turn and will take longer then even in rl. It becomes easier to move the whole vehicle then turn the turret for tanks with slow rotation ( as has been pointed out).
Not to mention that Tanks already stink to infantry as is! Why gimp them even more. It makes up for the scaled down size of the map! Someone should make a tank mod. ALL tanks, then we can have realistic turret speed.
^ YES! infantry are already 2 good against tanks
