This seems too simple to work well... We all know how APCs can deploy HMGs. Well, why cant we use that same code to deploy towed artillery? Finally you could pop down an 88 and get that truck/target away from you. You would not be able to pick up the arty again (maybe a modified version of the code used by engineers to pick up mines) but this would be more realistic anyways.

my only question is if the arty gun would have to be part of the model of the truck, or could they be two seperate models?

That works, it's just like what Battlegroup has. You just can't pick it up again...

Why not use the same idea as the re-placeable MG kits but on a vehicle scale? Spawn a AT / AA gun off the back of a half track, get in, use it, hop out, it gives 1 ammo back to the APC to drive and place again.

no, the idea is that you can quickly move a piece of artillery into a location, deploy it, and leave.

there is a compromise here, either we A) Stay with the current towing code. This way we can use towable guns AND recover them. But with this code the gun is part of the model, and there fore if the truck is hit, the AT guns blows up too. B) Use this code I suggested. You can drop off a gun and leave, making the gun a much harder target, but you cant move the gun afterwords. This also would allow for the towing of other things more realistically, like howitzers. A truck would not be right by an at gun, it kinda defeats the purpose of ambushing the armor.

I think it should be the way you suggest. I don't know anything about spawning codes, etc. But was just wondering that if the gun is placed, the truck separated and then destoryed (but the gun isn't), would it spawn back with a new gun? 'Cause if it would, axis could 88 spam...

Why dont give the APCs a special Position were a Mouseclick would have the same effect like the wrench of the Engie with the mines... if you are near the Arty/AT Gun you pick it up again....

hm let me guess..... i should do the SDK dance

What do you mean "No"? My suggestion allows perfectly what you want. I never suggested the truck and gun are attached. I suggested they work like the deployable (and redeployable) MG kits, you deploy them, they aren't attached to you, and you pick them up when you get out. The truck is absolutely independant of the gun once it's deployed. This system would allow ATGs (which then might be pushable) to be deployed far and also pick them up. [BTW, Good idea about the wrench/mine code to control when they are collected back.] You could even have a special ammo box at mainbase that refills the APC a half dozen times so that multiple ATGs could be placed.
