I think FH could benefit a lot from a re-do of their tracers. New effects would be cool.

German MGs Due to high rate of fire, put tracers every 9 or 10 shots instead of every 4. Looks dorky right now and gives away their position very easily. Real life German MG gunners did this.

BAR According to my sources, BAR users would not use tracers for a variety of reasons.

tracer hits When a tracer round hits something, the compound that ignites to light the tracer up will "splatter", or dissipate. The result is a mini explosion-looking effect. You can see great shots of it by watching night fighting cam footage from Iraq.

20mm/30mm No lighted tracers, make them give a very faint, long, smoke trail. Like in WW2 guncam footage. It would look a lot cooler (just like ww2 gun cam footage!)and they should also use different sounds then standard plane Rifle Caliber guns firing. 20mm and 30mm guns NEED splash damage as well. It dosent need to be a lot. Just some.

Shorter Make all tracers except smoke tracers shorter and not shaped like kites. Bullet impact effects should have dirt and dust thrown up (DC Final's effects are great)instead of the little white fountain thing, and the tracers shouldn't be as long as they are for rifle caliber guns right now. Smoke from weapons should linger for a bit as well, like the awesome new tank shell explosions.

For HMGs (Vickers .505, Browning M2, MG131/MG151, Hotchkiss 13.2mm Jap) the bullets should throw up a LOT of smoke and dust and dirt. The current effect for HMGs is nice, but it should be only for hitting a metal object. Hitting desert sands would result in sand being displaced.

I like the smoke tracers idea with cannons. I was just about to suggest it myself too. BG has small smoketrails in their plane cannon rounds.

I'm not going to say this is dumb but most tracers are shorter than what you see in FH, and they are not kite shaped but more like a short pulse of light, they tend to glow abit too. Smoke trails for plane cannons would not work well in FH even with the new smoke effects. One thing I do know from all those videos is that tracers are shaped like a long poll but are round on the ends, I don't know if we could do this in the BF enegne but we could try it out. I would like smoke from MGs, and small arms to stay around a bit that would be fun and should be easy to do. it would not be black though it would be more gray for small arms.

ooh yea this is a very good idea. It was type of round though which would have to be specfically used, and im not sure how often light vs smoke tracers were used. The smoke tracer Iv seen is in EOD which i thought looked very good.
