I'm sure this has been mentioned, but it'd be cool if there were like two or three "basic training" type maps. These would be single player and would kind of go like the beginning of CoD. You get a few kits to pick up throughout a little obstacle course and get the opportunity to use them on range targets. This way you can practice the bullet physics and what not. The other two maps would have tank training and plane training. Just an idea, but I believe this would help people new to the mod and make for a better experience when they get online.
Agreed. This is such a great idea. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, like Call of Duty basic training or America's Army basic training - just make a basic flat map (or use a preexisting one), slap one of each vehicle and weapons kit into the map, and you're done. (Perhaps have a separate map with one of each airplane.) This way, we will be able to rest assured that even the most inexperienced person at least knows the basics on FH gameplay. As for BF2, I hope it implements a "join server based on rank" option, as in, you must be a certain rank to join a server, just like America's Army. (For example, being able to set a server to accept only NCOs or higher - privates would not be able to join.) This could mean so much better gameplay for FH. You could have a few servers for privates to practice (or have no servers for privates at all - they can practice with bots) and have main servers accepting only players with higher ranks (no one below corporal allowed) for competitive play or even higher ranks (no one below company grade officer allowed) for even more competitive play - the best of the best. The noobs would be separated from the pros, and pub gaming would be a whole new experience!
They could limit gameplay to higher rank, but allow lower ranking people to spectate. That way they can watch how the experienced players work. They would have to have private servers though. How else would they get rank?
Ranks AFAIK in BF2 are only for EA official servers. Dunno about any of you but I rarely play on official EA server zoo's unless I want to update PB or commit some pwnage with other wolfers on TS.
I can't see anyone wanting to sit there and spend there free time watching 'experts' play;).
Schoolkid, are you going to pay for these servers? Private server hosts sometimes do put up 'practice' servers but given the hardware and line costs not many people can afford to put up multiple servers just so people can practice. Servers that seperate the n00bs from the good guys are admined servers, no EA server has ever been admined;).
You don't need a server for practice. Just single player maps.
That's pretty much how it is now. Read the manual, then start a LAN game with no players (other than yourself of course :D) You can practice using everything on the map.

It's very interesting to watch, actually. I like to go freecam and watch the bots duke it out for Stalingrad. Pretty interesting, but watching human players using human tactics is even cooler. Anyways, I was just making a suggestion. For example, if you have two servers, you could set one for everyone and set one for higher-ranking people. You don't have to, obviously.
nothing like a good online schooling i say :P but yes practice maps would be good, then students might get a higher grade when they come to online college. lol
BFE had a firing range modified for FH that had every small arms weapon in the game with real pop up targets, it was great. Would be nice if another map was created for both small arms and arty/tanks...
Hmm, Riles, you should post some more information on that. I would really like to see it someday.
I would imagine Proky would be great for tank training, and El Al for aircraft training.
