I made a nifty modification to the main executive file of the game BF2.exe that allows for all unlocks to be used in Single Player, Co-Op, all Multiplayer modes and even if you are using an offline account. In other words, it's an all-embracing bonus weapon unlocker that people have been dreaming of since the day BF2 was out.

Of course this sort of hack will be frowned upon by Electronic Arts as long as it grants BF2 and SF bonus weapons that should only be accessible via online play on official ranked servers. So I'm not going to release that version of the modified .exe.

However if the modified unlock interface is used to switch between three user-made weapons in a mod like FH2 which has nothing to do with the official ranking system and official BF2 and SF unlocks, this 'hack' would be 100% legal since it doesn't touch upon any commercial content.

I'd be most willing to make a version of the .exe that would only launch the FH2 mod and would be protected from using it to get BF2/SF unlocks, but this one would just allow to choose between three alternative weapons for each class of each army in the spawn screen. And at the same time this stuff will remain legal so no offense to EA is meant.

Feel free to PM me if you're interested. Currently an alpha version of the module is being created for the AI-X mod team, I hope more mod teams will look forward to using such a functionality in their mods.

uhh.. ranking? unlocks?.. what does that have to do with fh2? :uhoh: I have globalpoints 0000 and will never set my foot on a ranked bf2 server, I still expect to get acess to the same weapons as Mr.StatCollector-vanilla dude that has been playing bf2 since release.. :Puzzled:

Sorry, you seem to completely fail to understand. What I'm proposing has NOTHING to do with OFFICIAL unlocks or ranking. It just uses the unlock interface.

You just launch FH2.exe and play the mod. Once you are in the game, you see the spawn screen. In the spawn screen, there's the weapon switch button. In BF2 it allows to switch between unlocks and the original weapon for each class, if you're using an online account and won those unlocks by collecting bonus points and such like rubbish.

In FH2, no matter what game mode you are playing (even in Single Player), the same weapon switch button would allow you to choose one from three weapon types for each class of each army. I don't see what the heck this has to do with points or stats. Just a weapon selection menu instead of "pickup kits". That's all. Three user-made unique weapons per class of each army. Accessible to everyone regardless of their stats or lack of such. No matter if you're using an online or offline account. Even if you're playing SP. I just hacked the unlock interface of BF2 and turned it into a regular weapon selection menu.

Of course one could use this to grant themselves BF2/SF unlocks in vanilla BF2. And that would be an offense against EA. But this is not going to happen. Ever. I'll protect the .exe and it won't give you anything in BF2 or SF. In what way I'm suggesting to use the hack, then? See the paragraph above. To give every FH2 class a choice between three unique weapons in any game mode.

Simple as that. Legal as it comes. EA-friendly to the limit.

Sounds interesting, although I'm not sure which "class" would historically be able to choose between different types of weapons.

Judging by the info published at forgottenhope.filefront.com, the number of weapons for each army greatly exceeds the number of classes, so it stands to reason that each class will have a certain choice.

For example, a German machinegunner could choose from MG34, MG42 and PzB35. An assault-type soldier could choose from MP40, Stg 44 and FG40. A scout-type soldier could choose from K98 and G43. And so on and so forth. If there are no historical alternatives, there's no choice for that particular class of that particular army.

It's all configurable in the .con files. If you want them to be team-specific I see no reasons why they shouldn't (in FH2 most likely they should!). It's just BF2 that has the same type of unlocks assigned to all teams, but that's not a strict rule. Well I don't want to talk about BF2 and its unlocks any longer, I'm here not to taunt EA but to offer my help to modders. :) No 'unlockers' for BF2/SF content will be released on my behalf, only a 'weapon selection console' if FH team ask me to, I hope.

I believe this could also be used for different weapon layouts: engie kit with mines or engie kit with Sticky bombs for example

Oh, and Baklajan, not all weapons will be present on all maps, it wouldn't be historically accurate. If FH1 is any indication, some maps will have as few as 3 classes, in some cases even only one (air maps with only the pilot kit)

Right you are. This also works for weapon layouts. You can also create a number of versions of the same class, one of them having no choice, the other having a choice from two weapons and the third having a choice from three weapons. It's all easily configurable. I mean, there's still a number of maps on which some of the same-class weapons will be equally available...

Sticky bombs? Did you say sticky bombs? I haven't seen them on the FH2 website, but do you mean they will be in? Those round wool-encased thingies soaked with incredibly sticky, tar-colored glue?
