So Mersa Matruh begins. I hop into the Bedford with my squad of five loyal men and it's off to Garawla (The small village in the Southeastern most part of the map) for a quick raid and a flag cap. We all run upstairs in the house next to the flag. Fight off a few jerries and the flag of Great Britain is raised. The best part is, as we walk downstairs i hear an explosion and the sound of jagged metal flying all over the place, and turn around to see what once was a Bedford cargo truck! But now its just a pile of charred, twisted steel and a straight six engine block dislocated from the rest of the drivetrain. It reminds me of vanilla BF 1942, when you'd have to run when exiting a vehicle because it would spontaneously combust after 30 seconds of having nobody in it. In FH1 however, you could leave a perfectly fine vehicle, even one on fire there until the map ended and it wouldn't magically explode. I wasjust wondering, and hoping that the devs would bring this trait back, as i'm sure a lot of people besides myself enjoy that privilege of being able to leave your SAS Willy's hidden in a bush, go slit a kraut's throat, and leisurely stroll back to your 60 hp four banger and cruise back to HQ:D

I must agree, I'm sick of losing vehicles because I hopped out to get a flag, and come back only to find its gone....

I quite like the idea of machinegunning people out of transports and then just leaving them where they came to a stop. Deny the enemy all his assests at every chance you get!

Sounds good to me. Just set it up so that no more than two "copies" of the vehicle are out at once (for lag reasons). So if you're driving a truck and it gets shot up by mg fire, then it sits there burning/broken, and a new one spawns, then when the second truck is destroyed then the first disappears, etc.

If no one bothers with the truck for the rest of the round, then the wreckage stays there adding to atmosphere. :)

Not sure if it's even possible though, damn BF2 engine. :(

I believe vehicles should keep self-destructing for balance reasons but they aught to remain longer, 10 minutes or so.

As long as a vehicle is not destroyed it can not respawn. So having a truck staying alive for 10 minutes while just standing there not being used by anyone can be very frustrating for a squad waiting at it's respawn point.

Then have the spawner spawn 2 trucks. If they both get destroyed that squad is doing something wrong.

FH2 has plenty of transports around. The life expectancy of a truck, abandoned or not is not very high so i don't really see the problem.

this is definately a problem with tanks. sometimes you cant even jump out to repair them without fear of them blowing up in your face.
